Changing from Compass to School Bytes
You will have seen my letter to families this week about an important change we are making to the way we managed school events, finance and roll marking.
From Monday 8 September, GEPS will transition from Compass to a new platform called School Bytes. We are doing this because Compass itself is moving to this new platform.
School Bytes is similar to Compass, but more user friendly. The new platform will be used for all excursions, events and payments, and will also allow you to access the school calendar. You will also be able to use School Bytes to provide information about your child such as reasons for school absences.
What this means for you:
· You will need to download the new School Bytes app on your smartphone or access it via the web. A flyer about how to do this is attached to the newsletter.
· From Monday 8 September, all future excursion and event payments, as well as permission forms, will be managed through School Bytes. Until then, please continue to use Compass.
· Please ensure you have the School Bytes app installed before Monday 8 September.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we make this transition. If you have any questions or need assistance with downloading or setting up the School Bytes app, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office. And, as always, if you need assistance with excursions, events or payments, please do not hesitate to contact the
PSSA Update
We would like to congratulate all our PSSA teams as the season draws to an end. We are very proud of all the students who have represented Granville East Public School this year, and thank the staff who have coached the teams.
Three of our teams made it as far as the semi-finals this season. Our Junior and Senior Boys Soccer teams and our Junior Girls Oz Tag team have had an amazing season. They
played in their semi-finals today, and while they did not progress to the final, we are very proud of their skill, determination and sporting behaviour.
Congratulations to Our Dance Group A special congratulations to our Dance Group who recently performed at the Granville South CAPA High School showcase. Their performance was outstanding and a wonderful representation of our school’s talent and creativity. Well done to all the dancers for their hard work and dedication. A special thank you to Mrs Leigh who leads our dancers. We look forward to them performing at our end of term performance day.
Sound Gardens Showcase
We are proud to share that students from Sound Gardens recently showcased their incredible art, craft, multimedia, and curating skills at their installation at Bangor Park. Their creativity and dedication brought the space to life, engaging the community in a vibrant and meaningful way. A heartfelt thank you to Ms Claudia and her volunteers for providing our students with this fantastic opportunity to express themselves and develop their talents.
SRC fundraising
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) has been busy fundraising for important causes. Recently, Oodies and Robes Day was a great success, raising funds for Stewart House. We thank everyone who participated and contributed to this worthy cause. Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the upcoming Jersey Day on Friday 5 September, where all funds raised will go towards purchasing new sporting equipment for our school. We encourage everyone to get involved and support these fantastic initiatives!
Book Week
Granville East Public School recently celebrated Book Week with a range of activities that brought stories and imagination to life. Students participated in events in a lively Character Parade, showcasing their favourite book characters with creativity and enthusiasm. The celebrations were complemented by our Book Fair, which offered a wonderful selection of books for students and families to explore. Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped make Book Week a memorable event!
Stage 3 Mini Fete
Despite the rainy weather, our Stage 3 Mini Fete was a fantastic success, raising funds to support the Year 6 end-of-year activities. Small groups of our Stage 3 students enthusiastically ran fun games and delicious food stalls, bringing joy and excitement to everyone who attended.
The wet conditions made things a bit challenging, but our students showed incredible resilience and spirit throughout the day. A big thank you goes out to all the students across the school who supported our Stage 3 students by joining in the fun and purchasing from the stalls.
We are also extremely grateful to the parents who contributed so generously, whether through donations or by coming along on the day to cheer on the students.
A special shoutout to Ms Alsalimy, Ms Kopuz, and Ms Leigh—who bravely let themselves get “splashed for cash”! Even I joined in the fun, all in the name of supporting our Stage 3 fundraising efforts.
Thank you to everyone involved for making the Mini Fete a memorable and successful event!
