Snowsports Report

Downhill Day 3

Our third Downhill Snowsports day at Falls Creek was another successful and enjoyable outing for the Mount Beauty Secondary College program. We were pleasantly surprised by the snow and weather conditions, with soft snow across the resort and the sun breaking through throughout the day.

A special highlight was spotting Gang-Gang Cockatoos beneath Halley’s Comet chairlift. These birds are primarily slate-grey, with the males easily identified by their scarlet head and wispy crest, while females have a grey head and crest, with feathers edged in salmon pink on the underbelly.

Safety Reminder:

In light of the tragic news from Perisher this week, and following our first accident of the program, this is a timely reminder for all students to ski and ride within their ability and according to the conditions. Your safety is the number one priority.

Thank you to everyone who continues to look out for one another and display the school’s values of Kindness, Confidence, and Respect.

General Reminders

• Be prepared to ski or ride for the full day. Please ensure you are appropriately dressed, fuelled, and ready to participate in all sessions.

• Acute or existing injuries: If you are unable to ski or snowboard due to injury or illness, you will need to be collected from the mountain or taken to the Medical Centre. Please speak to a staff member as soon as possible if you are unwell or unable to continue.

Next Snow Day

Our next Downhill Snowsports day is scheduled for Monday 18 August. Please come prepared for another full day on snow!
