Kings Park Campus

Principal Message

Kings Park Campus September 15, 2025

Hello again to the Copperfield College community, but in particular to those from the Kings Park campus. We’re only a week away from the Term 3 break with the end of the year fast approaching. Term 3 has been a shorter term, and that’s why it feels as though the last campus report wasn’t so long ago. A summary of items to report on are below.

Lunch time Music Performance

On Wednesday August 20, the Performing Arts team put together 12 talented students from all three campuses who participated as part of a 3-day music production workshop led by the music staff. They began by writing and composing a song on day one, recorded this on day two and then took their show on tour performing live at the junior campuses on day three. The students worked really well as a team, forming friendships with all different year levels as well as creating incredible music. Well done to Ms. Van Orsuw and the entire Music team!

VIP visitors to the Kings Park campus

VIP visitors to the Kings Park campus – On Friday August 22, the Kings Park campus proudly welcome 2 very special (and important) guests; the State Member for Kororoit. Ms. Luba Grigorovitch and our State Premier, Ms. Jacinta Allen. Our guests were warmly greeted by the College Principal, Mr. Adamou and our College/Campus captains. Ms Grigorovitch and Ms. Allen were taken around the campus, popping into the library to watch a class engage in Book Week amongst other things and receive commentary from our very capable Student Leaders. The tour then ended in the Conference Room where our special guests were introduced to Campus Principals and members of our School Council. Of course, there was time for both Ms. Grigorovitch and Ms. Allen to speak and reinforce their commitment to public education and in particular Copperfield College. Our Student Leaders also had opportunities to demonstrate student voice with regard to what they see are the strengths of Copperfield College and where government can work in partnership with us to create something even more special. No doubt, we made a positive impact. Well done to all who made the visit a resounding success.

Grade 5 Activities at our feeder Primary Schools

As part of our Transition Program, we have worked closely with Kings Park Primary School, Kororoit Creek Primary School, and Movelle Primary School to support Grade 5 students in preparing for secondary schooling. These activities, which included basketball and soccer provided students with the opportunity to interact with current Kings Park campus students and ask questions about high school life, giving them valuable insights into the expectations and experiences of secondary education.

At the Kings Park campus, we welcomed two groups of approximately 50 students from Kings Park Primary School, while at Kororoit Creek Primary School, we facilitated four sessions involving 50 students each. We also delivered a dedicated session at Movelle Primary School with 24 students. The feedback from both students and teachers across the participating primary schools was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the value of these interactions in easing the transition process.

Looking ahead, we are in the process of organising transition activities with Stevensville Primary School and Albanvale Primary School. These initiatives will further strengthen our partnerships with local feeder schools and provide even more students with meaningful opportunities to experience secondary school life at Copperfield College.

Morrisby Interviews

My Career Insights The Department of Education gives every Victorian Government school student free access to the world-leading Morrisby online career education tool. This program is for Year 9 students. Morrisby helps students make informed choices for senior secondary school and beyond by exploring their strengths, interests and career opportunities and will support student subject choices in the future.

Students complete a series of online questions and quizzes on the Morrisby website at school (or at home if it cannot be completed at school). They receive a Morrisby Profile Report showing the results from the questions and quizzes, which summarises their individual strengths and interests and suggests related career paths and study options. Students can access their accounts with Morrisby after finishing school and beyond.

Students then are given a 30-minute meeting with a Morrisby-trained professional Career Counsellor. The Morrisby interviews were held on Monday 1, Tuesday 2, and Thursday 4 September. The majority of students attended their appointments on time, as scheduled via Compass, and feedback indicated that many found the interviews highly valuable. Students expressed enthusiasm, with several commenting that the process gave them greater clarity and insight into possible future career options.

Wear it Purple Day

On Friday August 29, the Kings Park campus students celebrated ‘Wear it Purple’ Day. Wear it Purple Day is an annual international awareness event that takes place on the last Friday in August, dedicated to supporting young people who identify as LGBTQ and challenging homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia in communities. The day encourages people to wear purple, a colour symbolizing diversity, to show solidarity and create a message of inclusion and acceptance for LGBTQ youth. The campus StudentRepresentative Council (SRC) and Wellbeing Team supported the day with a variety of activities…all of them with a purple theme of course

Cultural Day

What an amazing day we had on Wednesday September 10. The Kings Park campus came together to celebrate Cultural Day, showcasing all that is magical about a school represented by so many cultures. Many students came dressed in outfits representing their heritage. The Brimbank Mayor, Cr. Thuy Dang was also invited as our special guest. She told us late that she could not believe the way a campus can come together in harmony and spirit while showing pride in their culture.

Our SRC and student leaders did an incredible job bringing it all together under the watchful eye of Ms. Elliott. Some highlights included:

•Vietnamese Café

•Food truck selling kebabs

•Dancing from Samoa, Vietnam and the Middle East

•Cultural bell music

Everyone was so excited by the day, there is talk of already planning something bigger and better next year

Metro Tunnel Visit

Anzac station. On Friday 5/9, Natalie Hutchins invited 4 of our student leaders for a tour of the new Metro Tunnel Anzac Station. This is the last stop on the Metro Tunnel underground stations and it was amazing to see the technology. Our student represented Copperfield College extremely well.

Student Led Presentations

On Wednesday September 3, The Kings Park campus halted teaching for a day to witness our amazing students reflect and celebrate their achievements this year by presenting to parents and teachers a summary of what they’ve been doing at school. The presentations are truly inspiring in that students are supported by their teachers to showcase reflections of each of their subjects, goals they have set, challenges they’ve encountered along the way and how they have grown over the year. It’s a long standing annual event hereat Copperfield College and is now part of our DNA. Watching the pride on parents’ faces was also a joy. Well done to all.
