Middle School News

Upper Primary (Years 5-6)
This fortnight, we have continued with our Inquiry topic. This was supported by the second half of the cohort attending an excursion to the Planetarium. We have been enjoying Literacy and Numeracy Week, starting the week off with an incursion and Treasure Hunt. The students enjoyed the performance and interaction with the performers. Students have participated in activities throughout the week including door decoration, readers theatre, treasure hunt and dress up day to end a busy week!
Lower Secondary (Years 7-8)
The Lower secondary Team have loved learning about Space in our Inquiry lessons and have consolidated their knowledge of the 8 planets within the Solar System. This week, the students distinguished the different between ‘Normal Weather’ and ‘Extreme Weather’, identifying different conditions and the dangers that may occur from severe weather.
Lower Secondary have also continued their Travel Training Program, developing their knowledge of essential life skills such as recognising various forms of public transport, knowing how to effectively use a Myki and planning journeys within the local area.
Recently, we have enjoyed our excursions to The Scienceworks Planetarium, Melbourne Museum, ArtVo and various parks and playgrounds. Watching ‘Tycho Goes to Mars’ and building our knowledge of what we can see from Melbourne and immersing overselves in art was a real highlight.
