Prep - 100 Days of School!

What a milestone!

Our Prep students recently celebrated 100 Days of School, and what a joyful celebration it was! The day began with a special performance for our families, where the Preps proudly sang two songs that showcased just how much they’ve grown and learned in their first 100 days. One of their songs was a special thank you to their parents for all their love and support during their first year of school, their very own VIP’s.

After the performance, the fun continued with a range of exciting activities centered around the number 100, counting, creating, building, and playing!

The smiles and laughter were contagious as our young learners explored and celebrated this special day together. We wrapped up the celebration with a disco, where the Preps danced the afternoon away. What’s a celebration without a little music and movement?

We are so proud of our Preps and all they’ve achieved in their first 100 days of learning, growing, and shining at school!

Sport News

Term 3 has been a busy and exciting time for sport at TPPS, with events taking place most weeks and plenty of opportunities for our students to get involved. While we always value participation, enjoyment, and development above all else, it has been wonderful to see the dedication of our students rewarded with some fantastic results.

Our inaugural girls’ soccer tournament team finished as runners-up, with Sofia S and Charlotte M earning the player of the tournament and top scorer awards respectively. Our mixed netball and AFL teams both progressed to the regional finals after winning their district and division finals, while our Blue B’s AFL team also claimed the district grand final title.

The boys’ rounders team finally had the chance to play their district final, defeating OLOP to secure a place in the division finals later this year. Our mixed teeball team competed at Serpell Primary School, giving their best against some tough opposition, and two of our mixed Victorian Schools teams proudly represented TPPS at the Netball Victoria Championships.

In late July, our Junior (Grade 3/4) Hoop Time teams took to the court, with three teams making their respective grand finals. Today, our Grade 3-6 students showcased their skills and enthusiasm at the Victorian Downball Championships. With Senior Hoop Time and our House Athletics Carnival still to come next week, there is plenty more to look forward to.

It has been fantastic to see so many students step up to represent TPPS this term. The sportsmanship, effort, and enthusiasm shown by our players have been outstanding, and we are proud of every single participant. We can’t wait to see what the remainder of Term 3 and Term 4 bring for our school community.

Science Week

This week was Science Week, an exciting week for science lovers! It was from August the 8th to the 17th and this year the Department of Education chose the theme ‘decoding the universe’. Most other schools did activities involving the theme, TPPS did different activities not involving the theme. We planned and completed different activities relating to our Inquiry units.

  • Prep: Decoded different animal prints.
  • Year 1: Raced toy cars on different angles and slopes.
  • Year 2: Constructed play dough volcanoes.
  • Year 3: Made paper aeroplanes and tested them.
  • Year 4: Communicated with light, using torches.
  • Year 5: Created model solar systems.
  • Year 6: Drew posters for Science Week.

Science week here at TPPS is a way for us to celebrate the importance of Science across a variety of different age groups. It showcases many aspects of STEM that provoke deep interest and curiosity. Many people worldwide don’t understand the significance of science. A deep understanding of science helps us decode the world around us which can lead to advancements that improve our lives in multiple ways. That is why here at TPPS, Science Week is so important and we wish to share that with all the students in the school.

Bullying. No Way! Week – Standing Together for Respect and Kindness

This week, our school participated in Bullying. No Way! Week – a national initiative aimed at raising awareness, promoting respectful relationships, and empowering students to speak up against bullying.

Throughout the week, classes engaged in daily activities based on our key messages:

  • Be Bold - Stand up for what is right.
  • Be Kind - Treat everyone with respect and empathy.
  • Speak Up - Support others and seek help when needed.
  • You Can Help Stop Bullying - Everyone can play a part in creating a safe school environment.

To support these messages, many classes participated in Kids Helpline Webinars. These interactive sessions, led by qualified counsellors, helped students to:

  • Understand what bullying is (and isn’t).
  • Learn strategies to respond safely and confidently.
  • Build empathy and resilience.
  • Know where to go for help – both at school and beyond.

Daily class discussions explored each message in depth, with opportunities for students to reflect, role-play, and share ideas for making our school a more inclusive and supportive place.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home. You can find resources and tips on the Bullying. No Way! website or visit Kids Helpline for advice and support services for young people aged 5–25.

We can all work together to make sure that bullying has no place at TPPS.
