Hello Parents and Friends,
Our annual PFA School Disco was held last night and it was fantastic event. It was so great to see students from Prep – Grade 6 dance the night away and enjoy each other’s company. I would like to thank the PFA for organising and hosting this event. Please see some photos from the event below.
Over the last couple of weeks our Prep students celebrated 100 days of school and it was quite a celebration! Congratulations to our youngest students, their families, Prep/Specialist teachers and support staff for such a wonderful start to their learning journey. This week we have celebrated both the ‘Bullying No Way – National Week of Action' and 'Science Week' at Templestowe Park. All students have undertaken a range of lessons and activities in these areas. Finally, we have had many sporting events so far in Term 3. This has included a soccer tournament, interschool sports finals, Hoop Time basketball and downball championships. There is just so much great learning taking place within and outside of the classroom at TPPS. To learn more about all of these amazing learning opportunities, please go to the ‘Learning @ TPPS’ section of this newsletter.
Have a wonderful weekend!
We placed this in the newsletter at the commencement of the school year and we just wanted to remind all parents of our policy. It can be heartbreaking for students if they miss out on events and it is imperative that we work as a team to ensure that our students can participate in all school activities and events.
We have made the decision that in 2025, we will be fully adhering to our ‘Camps and Excursions’ policy for consent for events. This means that the following will now take place:
Students who have not finalised payment and consent by the required date will not be allowed to attend unless the Principal determines exceptional circumstances apply.
This is always a difficult decision for us as we never want a child to miss out on a school event. Before an event takes place, there are numerous Departmental, OHS and legal requirements that we must undertake. It is essential we know student numbers and have parent consent for planning to take place. Unfortunately, we quite frequently undertake frantic phone calls and make hasty arrangements to receive consent as students are about to leave on an excursion. This places extreme stress on the teachers and excursion organisers as they prepare to have students leave the school grounds. This has led to mistakes being made and we can no longer take this risk. Furthermore, with many external excursions and camps, we need to set budgets for the event and this is dependent on the number of students attending. This includes booking the right number of buses.
We will provide ample time (2 weeks’ notice) for events, except for hastily arranged sporting events that we do not receive that time from the organisers. Additionally, we will also provide consent notification for an event and email reminders prior to the closing date.
We suggest that you check Compass weekly and consent for events as soon as they are published. If you require financial support, please do not hesitate to contact Sanober (Business Manager) and we can offer assistance.
We thank you for your support and cooperation.
We warmly invite all parents and carers to attend our Term 3 Coffee and Chat with the Principal Class. The main topic of the session will be about our enrichment and support programs. This will include information about the new Disability Inclusion program. As usual, a general chat about the school and questions will take place.
The Coffee and Chat is time to catch up with each other in a relaxed environment. There is no need to RSVP, just come to the staffroom at 9:00am on Wednesday 27 August. Looking forward to seeing you then!
As seen on Compass this week, Templestowe Park Primary School canteen is excited to announce that they are hosting a SUSHI DAY!
Depending on the popularity of the Sushi Day, this may become a regular offering at our canteen. The idea for our Sushi Day was based on feedback that was provided by families within the canteen survey that was instigated by School Council late last year. The School Council really appreciated the feedback and have acted on the suggestions from the school community.
All details on the selection of sushi on offer and how to order are all within the Compass Newsfeed post.

Our final Young Einsteins session took place on Wednesday afternoon. The kinder kids had a wonderful time as they learnt about worms in Sustainability and magnets in STEM.
Thank you to Mrs Conn, Ms Augello and their student helpers for making these sessions such a fun and memorable event for our 2026 Preps. Our formal transition program for enrolled students will take place in Term 4.

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025. You will be able to access it from a link on the Compass Newsfeed.
At today's assembly, we were so pleased to present the Principals' Award to Nicholas V in Gr 4. Nicholas is a polite and respectful student to all his teachers and classmates. He will always try his hardest no matter the subject, always answering on his whiteboard with thoughtful responses. Nicholas doesn't allow himself to get distracted by others in the class and will always do the right thing. Anytime there is a need for volunteers, he is always first to put his hand up and he will always do the job to the best of his ability. Nicholas is friends with everyone, and will help any classmate in the classroom and out in the yard. He ensures everyone is included and that rules are fair and everyone is being kind. This Grade 4 student is a shining example of our RRIPO values. Well done, Nick!
