SCHOOL COUNCIL REPORT

Tuesday August 19 2025

This week, School Council met once again to discuss all things POPS, and I’m excited to share some of the highlights with you.

Our Facilities Sub-Committee has begun the process of creating a Master Plan for the school. This is a wonderful opportunity for staff, students, and parents to dream about what POPS could look like in the years ahead. We’ll be inviting feedback from the wider POPS community to ensure everyone has a voice in shaping the future of our school.

Many of you may have noticed that the weatherboard house on the corner of Park Rd and Bowmore Ave has recently been demolished by council. Both Ms Garrity and I will be attending a council-led meeting in September to discuss the future development of this land. Our focus, while representing the school at this meeting, will be ensuring that student safety and wellbeing remain at the forefront of council’s decision-making.

Traffic management around the school and surrounding streets continues to be a concern for both the school and Council. We will be writing to Manningham Council to voice these concerns and to seek support in finding safer and more effective solutions for our community.

School council would also like to take a moment to thank our incredible finance and administration team. Much of their critical work happens behind the scenes, and while transitions with new staff and roles always come with challenges, the process has been managed brilliantly. Their dedication and hard work are deeply appreciated.

Finally, with the warmer weather on the horizon, we’re looking forward to locking in a date early in Term 4 for our next working bee to help beautify our school grounds. Keep an eye on the newsletter for further details.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns you’d like to raise with me, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
