Regional Swimming Carnival
We hopped on the bus at 9:00 AM, all geared up for swimming divisionals, but let me tell you, nerves were running higher than a dolphin at a diving competition! We rolled in fashionably late, and poor Hazel and Reid had to bolt off the bus like it was a hot potato— their event was about to kick off! To make it to the next round, it was all about snagging a top two spot in individuals. Some swimmers were lucky enough to be part of relays, but here's the kicker: you had to snag first place to pass go and collect your ticket to regionals. And speaking of standouts, Gus Gadsby was the star of the show, racking up more ribbons than our school had lockers! Unfortunately, none of our relays made it through the gauntlet. Our swim squad was a mix of year 4s, 5s, and 6s—about 20 kids in total, and only three golden fishes made it to regionals: Paddy Rainey, Reid Robinson, and our ribbon king, Gus Gadsby! They’ll be making waves in Geelong in two weeks! After all the splashes, we packed up, ready to head home, but surprise! Our trusty bus decided to play dead. We waited about 30 minutes before we finally hopped on a new one. But hey, once we got back to school, we couldn’t stop buzzing about what a fantastic day it had been!
