Deputy Principal

Dear Community,

Our school leaders will once again attend the St Patrick's Day Mass, to be held at the Cathedral this Friday. It's a great celebration of our Catholic faith. The photo above is from my last journey home, on the west coast of Ireland, in County Mayo, where Saint Patrick spread the word about Christianity to the Irish people.

Rigorous Expectations

Sounds harsh, doesn't it? But it's not, really. As part of our Term One Wellbeing units across the school, we had a check in this week to further develop our students understanding. After a great discussion with the students at Monday's informal Assembly, we spoke about how following school expectations help ensure our learning time be the most productive it can be. We looked at our School Expectations and reiterated what these were about.

The following is an excerpt from our 2025 Staff Handbook....

School Expectations

At Sacred Heart, expected behaviours are explicitly taught and regularly referred to by teachers and specialists. These expectations are to be consistently followed by students throughout the year, and they form the foundation of our management plan.

These are to be displayed in every classroom and referred to throughout the year.

# Follow instructions.                                                                                                                               # Speak politely.                                                                                                                                             # Keep your hands and feet to yourself.                                                                                             #Move around the school in a safe and mindful way.                                                                   #Respect people, equipment and property.

All students responded as we knew they would, with a sound understanding of our school expectations and a commitment to displaying these actions into the future.

Lego Club Update

The Lego team was further strengthened with the addition of Joseph La Scaleia from           Year 2/3, who added IT design to his already impressive CV and was offered the position. Joseph joins Luke, Rayzon and Lawrence as our Lego Club team for 2025.  Thanks Joseph for the marketing and advertising. It was obviously a hit as the people flocked to Lego Club for the second week running!
