Year 2/3

Mischief and Storytelling in Our Classroom!
This term, our students have been diving into the world of Matilda, drawing inspiration from the theme “Mischief Is the Key to My Success” to create their own imaginative stories about some very cheeky characters!
Writing a well-structured narrative is no easy task, but our students have risen to the challenge. They have been working hard to develop engaging introductions, bringing their characters to life and setting the scene for their stories. In addition, they have started crafting the events that lead up to their main problem, carefully building suspense and excitement.
As we continue our writing journey, students will explore how to develop the climax and resolution of their narratives, ensuring their mischievous characters' adventures come to a satisfying conclusion. We can't wait to see where their creativity takes them!
Stay tuned for some wonderfully mischievous tales to come!
Exploring Life on Planet Zog!
Our creative journey continues as students use their imaginations to research animals they’d love to bring to the distant planet Zog. In this unit, they’ve had to prove that their chosen animals are indeed living beings by demonstrating the four characteristics of living things.
For example, Alice explains that “polar bears need energy to survive. They get it by killing animals that are smaller than themselves.” Meanwhile, Oliver highlights how “thorny devils respond to their environment by changing colour to keep cool.” These insightful observations not only show their understanding of animal behaviour but also illustrate the essential traits that define living organisms.
As students explore these fascinating creatures, they are combining science with creativity, preparing compelling arguments and imaginative stories about life on another planet. Stay tuned as we continue to witness their innovative ideas come to life on Planet Zog!
