All Things Hub

We've had an exciting month in the Community Hub! One of the highlights was our first-ever Father and Son event, organised in partnership with South East Community Links and Women’s Health in the South East. The goal of this event was to spark conversations among our Burmese and Rohingya families about the important role fathers play in raising their sons in Australia, and to emphasize the value of connection, community, cultural identity, and promoting both healthy minds and healthy bodies. The boys had a great time bonding with their fathers, but the standout moment was when Melbourne City Football Club hosted a soccer match between the parents and sons. The boys were thrilled to win the game, 5-4! It was a successful day indeed and we hope to facilitate more sessions in the future.

In addition, we had Kirsty from Ambulance Victoria visit our Women’s Wellbeing group. Kirsty presented an information session about Heat Health and the signs one might look for when experiencing heat exhaustion or a heat stroke. In addition she shared information regarding Virtual Emergency Department and Urgent Care Clinics. Virtual Emergency allows you to access a doctor using Face-Time on your phone. However please use this service for non-life-threatening emergency conditions only.

Medicare Urgent Care clinics give you more options to see a GP or nurse when you need care for urgent, but not life-threatening, injuries and illnesses in person. The nearest clinic to Springvale is in Dandenong (Dandenong Medicare Urgent Care Clinic) located 1/134 Logis Boulevard, Dandenong South, VIC 3175. The beginning of March also marks the beginning of Ramadan for many of our families. On behalf of our Springvale Rise Community we wish every one who celebrates a Ramadan Mubarak.
