Year 3 Reconciliation Commitment Masses

This weekend our Year 3 children will stand before the members of the Parish and make their commitment to their learning of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The children have been taking part in moments of learning and self reflection in their classrooms as they understand the significance of the sacrament—not just as a ritual, but as a way to encounter God's forgiveness. This sacrament allows them to experience healing and renewal, bringing them closer to God and to the faith community.

Please continue to keep them in your prayers over the next few weeks while they continue to prepare and take part in the sacrament of Reconciliation.

The Hope of Lent

Last week we marked the beginning of Lent with a prayer service led by 6A. During this service as a school, we received the Ashes - a symbol of humility, purification and sorrow. We are marked with ashes on the first day of Lent as a sign of our willingness to cleanse our heart through prayer, fasting and self-denial.

As we enter the season of Lent, we are reminded of the powerful opportunity it offers for spiritual renewal and reflection.

This year, we are especially blessed to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope, a time for deepening our faith, and sharing the love of Christ with others.

The Jubilee Year of Hope calls us to renew our commitment to hope, trust, and peace in our lives and communities. Throughout this season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we invite families to come together and reflect on how they can live out the values of the Jubilee Year of Hope. Whether it is through acts of kindness, prayer for the suffering, or a renewed commitment to faith, there are countless ways to embrace this sacred time.

This Jubilee Year reminds us that hope is always within our reach, no matter the circumstances. Let us embrace the promise of renewal that this Lenten season brings, trusting in God’s love.

We are excited to continue this journey together as a school community, growing in faith, hope, and charity throughout this holy season.

Pope Francis encourages all Christians to bring the love of Jesus to others, even if it means taking a risk, because in this way we bring hope to those who are most in need of it.

If you have been watching the news, there's a lot to pray about this week. We continue to keep Pope Francis in our prayers and pray for those recovering from Cyclone Alfred's impact. We offer up this prayer for them.

Heavenly Father,

We lift up to You the people of South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales, especially as they recover from Cyclone Alfred's impact. We ask for Your protection, guidance, and peace to be with all who may be affected by this storm.

Grant safety to families, the vulnerable, and all emergency responders. Strengthen the hearts of those impacted, and surround them with Your comfort. May they feel Your presence in the midst of fear and uncertainty.

Lord, we pray for swift recovery and the grace to rebuild where damage occurred. Bless these communities with resilience, unity, and hope as they navigate this challenge.

We place our trust in Your loving care, knowing that You are with us always.

Through Christ our Lord,

Amen.

The Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven,

May the faith you have given us

in your son  Jesus Christ, our brother,

and the flame of charity enkindled

in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,

reawaken in us the blessed hope

of the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us

into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform from within

both humanity and the whole cosmos

in the sure expectation

of a new heaven and a new earth,

when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,

your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee

reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,

a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread

the joy and peace of our Redeemer

throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed,

be glory and praise for ever.

Amen

This prayer was written by Pope Francis and includes foci on the needs of God’s creation as well as humanity.
