Senior School News

What's happening in Years 10, 11 and 12.

Preparation for semester 2

Most students have successfully completed Semester 1, working with focus and determination to achieve Satisfactory results. For those who have received Not Satisfactory results, now is the perfect time to reflect, reset, and make some positive changes to learning behaviours and study habits. This will help ensure they are well prepared for Semester 2 and in the best position for promotion to the next year level or to successfully complete their schooling.

Our At Risk interviews will continue into next term, providing support and guidance, helping students plan, make better choices, and experience success.

Our Year 10 and 11 students are now completing their exams, which are not only a chance to show what they have learned so far, but also valuable practice for the challenges of

Year 12.

Looking ahead, Unit 2 and Unit 4 classes will begin in Week 10, and we encourage students to finalise any subject changes as soon as possible so they can start the new units confidently.

Also in Week 10, our Year 10 students will take part in Work Experience. We hope this valuable opportunity will help them explore their interests and consider future pathways.

Finally, Year 12 students will look forward to attending camp in Week 11, where they can build connections, reflect on their journey so far, and recharge before heading into their final semester.

VM Leadership Skills Day

Today the year 11 and 12 VM students took part in their VM LEADERSHIP SKILLS DAY with John Fawkner College, Coburg High, and Pascoe Vale Girls College.

They heard from AFLW Star Player Moana Hope as well as 6 other speakers, who spoke about leadership styles, businesses and overcoming adversity.

They also undertook STEM activities with RMIT University students, where they build rockets and roller coasters.

VM Literacy Class

The Year 11 VM Literacy Class Has Uncovered the Truth… 👀

The Year 11 Vocational Major Literacy class is wrapping up their Conspiracy Theories unit, and let’s just say things have taken a wild turn.

Over the past few weeks, they’ve worked hard to research, write, and present their own original conspiracy theories — and they’ve done a scarily convincing job of getting the rest of the class on board.

According to their “evidence”:

  • All teachers are secretly robots

  • Teachers live underneath the school (plenty of “proof” provided)

  • BCF is getting teens hooked on fishing and draining their bank accounts

  • Toy Story is based on a true story

  • The Ice Bucket Challenge is actually a cult ritual

  • The Last Of Us is a warning, not a game

…and that’s just the beginning. If you see any of the Year 11 VM students around, let them know you saw their work. Their effort has been huge, and a bit of recognition from around the school will go a long way.

The energy in SL10 has been incredible, heaps of laughter, collaboration, and critical thinking.
