Students have had a Wellbeing Day where they listened to Darren Pereira’s powerful presentation about how students can work to be the best versions of themselves, they had a session where they chose to either cook, create, be active or simply sit and watch a film, and they all participated in team building activities. The last session was spent in the theatre where students watched a video of photos from their day and chose their prizes based on how many raffle tickets they had collected during the day for participation. It was an extremely positive day and students reported that they enjoyed themselves.

Students attended two incursions in Term 2. On 2nd June, students attended a presentation from Life Choices where the presenter discussed how they can make positive choices around some of life’s important decisions and challenged students to think for themselves, to leave the past behind and to be “courageous” in the face of important choices. The second incursion was to watch a production of ‘On the Ropes’ where the narrative followed two teenagers and a lawyer, tackling heavy, real-world issues like family violence, coercive control, consent, and online harm. It was an extremely compelling play that engaged the students and gave them important information about the world they are navigating.

On Tuesday 19th May, the school celebrated Harmony Day. There were cultural dances, lunchtime performances and festival activities as well as after school activities. We also had food trucks with various foods and despite the gloomy weather it was a wonderful day!

Most Year 9 students were lucky enough to visit the Careers Fair where visiting Universities, TAFEs, employers and Training Organisations had stalls displaying their programs and what they offered and representatives were there to answer questions and talk to students. Middle School and Senior School students were able to visit the fair organised by the Careers team to investigate possible future pathways.

On Wednesday 24th June we had our Year 9 Celebration assembly. We celebrated students who had 100% attendance- a great effort! Students who have never been late this year – incredible! And students who achieved the highest SWPBS points and highest GPA. We also celebrated students who had improved the most in attendance and those students who had succeeded in their sport at the highest levels. Students who received an Academic Excellence award or an Academic Endeavour award in their subject were also celebrated- a wonderful effort from our Year 9 students!

Attendance and reducing the number of lates remains a focus and it is extremely pleasing to see the high attendance across the cohort –Year 9 students have the second highest attendance across all year levels in June! An outstanding effort!

Earlier this term, Sana (9M) and Wardah (8B) proudly represented our school at the 2026 Chinese Reading Competition for Year 8 and 9 students.
Sana achieved an excellent result, receiving the Encouragement Medal in the Year 9 division. Wardah also represented the school with enthusiasm and dedication, and we are very proud of her efforts and commitment.
The event was a wonderful cultural experience for our students. In addition to the competition, they won the Mandarin quiz on the day and enjoyed a range of performances, including a beautiful Hanfu showcase and Chinese folk dance. It was a memorable and rewarding experience for all involved.
Congratulations to Sana and Wardah on representing the school so well

As Term 2 comes to a close, we are proud to celebrate the many achievements of our Year 10 students. A milestone moment for many students was completing their Year 10 exams, demonstrating commitment, resilience, and growing readiness for the next stage of learning.
A highlight of the term was work experience, with half of the cohort taking part in a valuable opportunity to explore the world of work. These placements provided students with practical insight into workplace expectations, communication, teamwork, and responsibility. Just as importantly, they helped students begin making stronger connections between their interests, future pathways, and the demands of senior studies.
“Year 10 has been a fantastic term of learning, growth, and fun. Our students have shown great energy, maturity, and a real willingness to give new experiences their best effort. Oliver Churchyard Year 10 Sports Pathways Teacher”
Students also took part in our Careers Expo during Term 2, where a wide range of universities, TAFEs, and industry representatives shared information about future study and career pathways. This valuable event supported students to begin thinking carefully about the options available to them beyond Year 10 and into their senior years.

As we now turn our focus toward senior pathways, we encourage all families to check Compass regularly for key course dates shared by Executive Assistant Principal Timothy Bray. Staying informed will help students lock in their course selections and make confident decisions about their next steps.
Attendance remains a key focus for all students. This semester, Year 10 recorded an overall attendance average of 89%, and we warmly encourage all parents and carers to support their child in aiming for 95% attendance wherever possible. Strong attendance helps build healthy habits, consistency, and the commitment needed for success in VCE and VCE-VM.
We are also pleased to share that the Year 10 average GPA is 3.3. This reflects the hard work of many students, while also reminding us that academic progress is closely linked to learning behaviours, organisation, and engagement in class. We ask all students and families to continue reviewing progress and working together to lift achievement wherever possible.
We are also delighted to welcome Belinda Whelan as the new Year 10 Coordinator. Belinda joins the team with enthusiasm and a strong commitment to supporting students through this important year level.
At the same time, we extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to Paige Dwyer, and wish her every happiness and success as she prepares to welcome her new baby.
Thank you to all students, families, and staff for a fantastic Term 2. We look forward to an exciting term ahead as Year 10 students continue preparing for senior pathways and future success.
