Bella delivered an impressive performance, securing 7th and 11th place overall in Australia. Beyond her remarkable results, she proudly represented her state as a team captain, leading Queensland to claim both the overall win and the Spirit Award.
Special mention goes to Bella’s equine partners, Daisy and Flirt, who played a crucial role in her success. Clayfield College Sports Celebration Dinner: A Night of Unity and Achievement
The annual Clayfield College Sports Celebration Dinner was a resounding success, bringing together our vibrant community to honour the spirit of sport and the exceptional achievements of our student athletes. This event was more than just a dinner; it was a powerful celebration of the dedication, resilience, and camaraderie that define our sports program.
Held within the familiar embrace of our 'cauldron,' we reflected on the moments that shaped our year in sport - the highs, the challenges, and the countless memories that connected us all. Our students once again proved that sport at Clayfield College is about so much more than competition; it's about belonging to something bigger, embracing teamwork, and supporting one another through every victory and setback.
Highlights of the evening included celebrating our artistic gymnastics team, who secured an impressive five championship pennants, and the inspiring growth of our boys' basketball program, expanding from one team to three. We also recognised our involvement in the PMSA Sailing program with Somerville House and Brisbane Boys' College, showcasing the power of collaboration beyond our school.
A special moment was dedicated to acknowledging the success of the Reconciliation Round, where our students took to the courts and fields in basketball, football, and touch football, wearing vibrant uniforms provided by our Parents & Friends Association. This round wasn't just about the sport; it was a symbol of unity, respect, and our shared commitment to reconciliation.
Throughout the night, there was a common theme that resonated deeply with everyone present, the importance of “being part of more.” Our student athletes spoke of how much they value the friendships, the shared purpose, and the pride that comes with representing Clayfield College. Their stories were filled with gratitude, humility, and a genuine passion for contributing to a community they love.
We also took a moment to recognise the tireless dedication of our staff and coaches, whose guidance and support play a crucial role in shaping our students, not just as athletes but as leaders and role models. Their commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and care continues to inspire our students to push their limits and strive for their best.
The Sports Celebration Dinner was a reminder that sport is a powerful vehicle for creating connections and nurturing a sense of belonging. It’s about more than just the medals and trophies; it’s about the spirit that drives us forward, the resilience to rise again, and the shared passion to let their light shine, both on and off the field.
In closing, I expressed my thoughts, saying "As we look to the horizon, I am confident that the best is yet to come. Being a part of more is a thread that runs through sport. Being part of more is part of our story.”
