Sport News
It has been another busy term as far as sport goes with some fabulous performances by our students.
Teeball
Our Open Teeball team began the term with the District Teeball round robin in the first week of term. The boys won convincingly against the other schools to become Premiers. From there they played in the Division final to again have a convincing win to qualify for the eastern regional finals, unfortunately without Mack who was playing in the State Hockey team. On this day, held at the Waverley Softball Association, the boys finished top of their pool to then play cross over finals. They finished in 3rd place out of 8 schools displaying many impressive plays. Owen for hitting many home runs, Baxter Sh for playing in pitcher position for the first time and Zack and Baxter Sm for their fielding to 1st base to get many runners out. Congratulations boys!
Swimming Lessons
Early in the term the Prep-2 students all went to Aquarena to participate in a 10- day intensive swimming program. This program aims to develop water safety and survival skills as well as stroke development and technique. Despite the weather conditions outside, all students seemed to enjoy their lessons and hopefully developed their skills.
A big thank you to all the parent helpers who helped students change, dress and put goggles on!
House Athletics Carnival and Aths Fun Day
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t kind to us this year with events delayed because of rain and it being very wet underfoot for the Prep-2’s tabloid sports. However, we still managed to get through the program and by the sounds of it the younger students still enjoyed their day. We were able to run the Year 3-6 program because of the help of students from Warrandyte High who supervised every event as well as marshalling, recording and judging events.
The results for the day were:
1st place: Brackenbury 272 points
2nd place: Yarra 247 points
3rd place: Anderson 190 points
4th place: Forbes 188 points
Congratulations Brackenbury students who have won back to back carnivals.
Stepping Stones
We hosted the 4 year old kinder students for an afternoon of fun in Tobruk Hall, with access to our gymnastics and PMP equipment. They were kept entertained and safe by some of our wonderful year 5 helpers and shown how to use the equipment by some of our prep students. Well done everyone.
Fundraiser
Another huge thank you to our wonderful school community for your support of our Cross Country/Fun Run fundraiser. $3,100 was raised and has already been put to use in replacing 3 of our basketball backboards and a new ring.
Students who won sports equipment for raising the most money were: Darcy White, Grace Rutherford, Remy Padgham and the McKellar family. 10 further students who’s names were drawn for raising more than $45 dollars were also able to select a piece of sports equipment. Thank you everyone!
Lap-A-Thon
As part of their training for the Cross Country and Fun Run the year 1-6 students compete in a lap-a-thon during term 1. 2 students from each level who run the most laps are awarded with an engraved medal during assembly. This finally occurred this term.
Congratulations to all those students and on your fabulous efforts during what was a very hot term.
The total number of kilometres that were run was 1,807, the equivalent of running from Melbourne to Brisbane! 2/3R were the grade that ran the furthest with 360.6kms followed by 4/5D with 347.4kms. A great effort by all students.
Next year we’ll try and run even further!
Junior Hooptime
50 excited Year 3 and 4 students went to Nunawading stadium to play a day of basketball last week in the Hooptime competition. Students were put in teams according to ability and played between 4-6 games over the day. All teams performed well and thoroughly enjoyed their day, in particular the All Star girls team who made the grand final which they ultimately won. They now go on to compete in the regional finals in November! We had 6 students from Warrandyte High, including 2 past Warrandyte Primary students, who came to help coach and score on the day. We are very grateful for their support.
Parent Helpers
Our programs can only go ahead with the support of parents whether it be coaching, transporting, supervising or scoring. I would like to thank our wonderful parents for their continued support. Thank you, you know who you are!

Lost Property
Due to the inclement weather and the camp in the last week of term I was unable to put all the lost property out. This will be sorted again at the beginning of term and un-named uniforms will be taken to the Uniform Shop. We are unable to store the volume of clothing that accumulates, please come and check or ask your child to find their lost property
