Footy Colours Day: Thursday 19 September

On Thursday 19 September, the Senior School Prefects are holding a Footy Colours Day and Staff vs Student Basketball Game. This event will raise awareness and funds in support of research into childhood cancers. For more information about this initiative, visit the Footy Colours Day website.

GCAG will be holding a BBQ stall on the day, selling sausages (vegetarian and gluten-free options available) and spider drinks for $2.50 each. All funds raised will be donated to the Footy Colours Charity. Cash and card payments will be accepted on the day.

Please support this worthy cause!

It's In the Bag Charity Drive in Term 4

During Term 4, GCAG will be collecting items for the 'It’s In The Bag" fundraiser run by Australian non-profit organisation Share the Dignity, which aims to help women and children who are experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or just doing it tough.

Participants are asked to donate essential items (mixed in with a few luxury treats) that are suited to women, children, babies or teenagers. GCAG then collects the donated items and makes up a bag for a specific group (e.g. teenagers) that includes items suited to that demographic as well as an inspirational note to show they are cared for and valued. For some individuals, this is the only Christmas gift they will receive and it offers hope of a better future.

GCAG is asking each House to collect specific items as follows:

  • Aherne: Oral care products (e.g. toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss) and period products (e.g. period undies, menstrual cups, sanitary napkins, tampons)
  • Frew: Bath and shower products (e.g. shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, deodorant, face washers)
  • Jenkin: Luxury gifts (e.g. makeup, perfume, jewellery, puzzle books, colouring books, socks)
  • Jones: Teen items (e.g. earphones/ear buds, lip gloss, balls, books, hair clips and scrunchies, fidget toys, tampons, sanitary napkins, period undies)
  • Millward: Stationery (e.g. pens, notepads, erasers, pencils, sharpeners, pencil cases)
  • Riley: Baby goods (e.g. nappies, dummies, baby lotions, breast pads, maternity pads, teething rings, baby clothes and socks)

We are also calling for donations of suitable used or new bags or backpacks.

All items can be dropped at the Head of House office or Morey Reception from Monday 7 October until Friday 22 November.
