In Literacy, we have been learning new long vowel sounds in Stage 7.4 Little Learners Love Literacy. We know it is a long vowel sound when it says its name. We are beginning to learn about e-e as in delete and e as in me, before we move on to o-e as in nose, o as in no, ow as in show and oe as in toe.
In Writing, we finished our unit on Information texts and are so proud of the pieces of writing we were able to complete. Take a look below!
We are beginning our new Narrative unit where we will begin by understanding that every story has a character, setting, problem, feeling, plan, action, ending and end feeling. We will also be exploring how conjunctions (because, but, and, so) help join sentences together.
In Knowledge, we have begun our Greek Myth unit. We understand that a myth is a fictional story which has a god/goddess, hero or supernatural being as the main character. Myths also inform or teach us about why or how something happens. We have been busy exploring the 12 main Greek Gods and Goddesses who live on Mount Olympus as well as learning about Prometheus and Pandora. In the coming weeks, we will explore more myths such as Theseus and Minotaur, Daedalus and Icarus and Hercules!
In Numeracy, we are finishing our units on fractions and multiplication/division. We know that division is ‘sharing into equal groups’. We will be deepening our knowledge of the operations through worded problems.
In SEL, we have been continuing to explore Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness (GEM) and Emotional Literacy. We have been doing so by thinking about what makes a good team player and how we show our peers, families and friends how we care for them.
In Auslan, we learnt how to sign different sports which was very helpful when we were watching the Olympics. We have begun to learn signs for sea animals and days of the week!
