Our foundation students have just wrapped up an exciting and insightful assessment on emotions in their performing arts class. They have been working hard to understand and convey different emotional states through their facial expressions. You can watch your child’s performances on SeeSaw. Now, our students are ready to embark on their next adventure in performing arts: studying characters in narratives.
They are exploring how to bring stories to life by focusing on character development and expression. This new phase of their learning will involve examining how characters interact within a story and using body movement and facial expressions to enhance their performances.
Students are also practising their End of Year Performance pieces. Details about these performances will be announced shortly! Well done Foundation students!
Our Grade 1 and 2 performing arts students have recently completed a delightful series of performances focused on daily routines. From the calming ritual of getting ready for bed to the lively act of eating dinner, students have explored these everyday moments through expressive movement. They learned how to articulate their movements so that their bodies could vividly tell each story, demonstrating their attention to detail. Parents can watch these charming performances on Seesaw, where the students' hard work and imagination are on full display.
Looking ahead, our young performers are embarking on their next exciting challenge: incorporating dialogue into their performances. They are exploring how to blend speech with movement, enhancing their portrayals of characters within various settings. This new focus will help them develop their storytelling skills further and add an extra layer of depth to their performances. Students are also beginning to practise their end-of-year performance pieces. Details about these performances will be shared soon, so stay tuned for more information about the upcoming showcase of their talents.
We’re incredibly proud of the progress our Grade 1 and 2 students have made and can’t wait to see them shine in their future performances!
Our Grade 3 and 4 performing arts students are diving into a new and exciting phase of their learning! They are beginning their performances focused on interactions with a partner, drawing inspiration from real-life scenarios such as a hairdresser and client or a customer and waiter. This hands-on approach allows students to explore and perform everyday situations, enhancing their ability to convey genuine interactions and emotions.
In the coming weeks, students will be planning and rehearsing their interaction performances, with teachers capturing these moments on film. These performances will be available for viewing on Seesaw, providing parents and families a chance to witness the creativity and collaboration our students are demonstrating.
Additionally, our students are gearing up for their end-of-year dance performances. They are hard at work perfecting their routines and bringing their unique flair to the stage. We’ll be sharing more details about these performances soon, so stay tuned for exciting updates.
We’re thrilled to see how our Grade 3 and 4 students will showcase their talents in both their interactive performances and upcoming dance pieces. Well done!
Our Grade 5 and 6 performing arts students are currently immersing themselves in the art of monologue performance. They are honing their skills by focusing on tone, expression, facial gestures, and body language to bring their characters to life in a captivating way.
The students’ initial assessments feature a monologue delivered by Dory from the beloved movie Finding Nemo. This exercise allows them to explore the nuances of voice and emotion as they interpret and perform Dory’s lines. It's been a fantastic opportunity for them to practise expressing a range of emotions and mastering the subtleties of character portrayal.
Following these performances, students will embark on a creative journey of writing their own monologues. Each student will craft a monologue based on a character they’ve invented, allowing them to apply their newfound skills in a personal and imaginative way.
All performances are being filmed, and these will soon be available for viewing on Seesaw. We encourage parents and families to check out these videos to see the impressive work and growth our students are demonstrating.
In addition to their monologue studies, our students are also diligently rehearsing for their end-of-year production. Details about these performances will be shared shortly, promising a spectacular showcase of their talent and hard work.
We’re excited to see how our Grade 5 and 6 students continue to develop their performing arts skills and can’t wait for you to experience their performances!
