School News

A Note from Kirrily

What a crazy end to the year! It was a busy time to start my role as PCW in the school, but I have really enjoyed the liveliness here and found it's made it easier to get to know the way this school works. I love this community and am looking forward to all of the performances and gatherings next week where we can hear from students on their efforts this year and have some fun together!

Thank you to all who have donated to our Vinnie’s donations box, it’s filling up! The surrounding community will be very grateful and your donations will go a long way in supporting families in need this Christmas.

A big thank you also to all who have made me feel welcome and introduced themselves to me this term, I’m here for a  chat if you need anything as we finish up for the year.

May you have a blessed Christmas period and see you next year!

OSHC/ Vac Care Program

Hi Uraidla families, the vacation care program is out now! Please get your bookings to me soon! As usual, through the Spike app if that is possible.

In terms of regular bookings for next year, I have had a few people ask how that works for normal BSC/ASC OSHC - I will send out a Microsoft Forms survey for you to complete moving into the New Year and I will use that alone to confirm regular ongoing bookings. I normally send that out in the last week of December or in the first few weeks of next year. I have used this Microsoft Form system for the past two years, and it works well because it is fair, 'first in first served' + all bookings go into the same databank. In 2024, I imagine there will be a waitlist for some days, particularly Thursday afternoons (If it is anything like how this year's Thursdays have shaped up). If you are not on our email list or in Spike yet, please let me know so that you can get the survey link when it comes.

We can't wait to see you in Vac and over the summer before a busy 2024!

Mid Year Intake Enrolments

Do you know anyone wanting to start school? We are now taking enrolments for the 2024 mid-year intake. Please contact the front office for a school starter pack.

Mid-year enrolments are due by the end of term 4 2023.

Harvest Table

Please come and support our Harvest Table near the double glass doors in the main school building.  Our students are helping to harvest items from the garden that can be sold. There will also be items from the Harvest Table on sale at the Willow Cafe on assembly weeks. This week there are some wreaths available for the bargain price of $2 each! Your kids would love to decorate these for Christmas.

We would love to receive any donations of excess produce you may have to sell as well. Please leave your donated items in the staffroom. Thank you!

CHECK: Covid measures

Here are the current recommendations from the Department for Education:

COVID safe measures

  • All students and staff must stay home if unwell, even mildly. If students become unwell at school, we are unable to care for them here and we will be contacting you to collect them asap. Please have a plan in place for someone who can collect your child within a half hour.
  • We still need to record all cases of COVID; please let us know asap if your child tests positive by either RAT or PCR test.
  • We will be maximising ventilation by leaving doors/windows open, using air conditioning and fans, and keeping doors and windows open.
  • Adults will practise physical distancing where possible.
  • We will continue to practise and promote hand and respiratory hygiene. Hand sanitiser will be provided for regular use, and disposable masks.
  • Students who have tested positive to Covid must stay home for 5 days from the date of the test. They can then return to school as long as they are free of symptoms. We ask siblings of students who have tested positive to wear a mask at school if they are able, to reduce the chance of infection.

Face masks

  • Adults and children in Years 3-6 can choose to wear masks inside, to minimise the risk of infection; we are now leaving this up to individual discretion.
  • If there is a known case in the family of a child in any class, we are encouraging the adults and children in that class to all wear masks during the infectious period.

Pick up and drop off

  • In the morning please continue to drop children off at one of the entrances to the school grounds, and allow them to make their own way to their classrooms. If you need to speak to your child’s teacher, please make contact through the SeeSaw app.
  • We are now welcoming families to come into the yard at the end of the day. Please come into the school grounds to wait rather than waiting in the roadway, for child safety. Thank you!
