During this fortnight in the 3 and 4 year old kindergarten, the children have been undertaking learning in the following areas:
Reading
Conducting ‘Book Walks’ to understand what the book is about before reading.
Listening for the first sound of a word through storytelling and games
Writing
Strengthening and refining their fine motor skills through work with clay, dough, scissors, manipulative equipment
Signing in each day and practicing letter formation with Tommy Turtle
Visual tracking as they follow the lines of their drawings to make pin prick pictures.
STEM
For the children to explore the concept of cause and effect
For the children to consolidate their understanding of numbers and counting
Inquiry
In Term 4 the children in all groups are undertaking a study of the Inquiry Unit Our Community through which they will be exploring what a community is; the people in the community and the roles they play; and the places in our community and the services they provide.

Talking about feelings associated with transition to school or a new kinder group in 2024.
Discussing celebrations and observances held by people in our community as we build respectful relationships through understanding and accepting differences.
