Our Lady's Primary School Physical Education - Term Highlights! 🏆

We are thrilled to share the fantastic achievements and activities from our Physical Education classes this term at Our Lady's Primary School!

Tennis Triumphs Across All Levels 🎾:

This term, our budding tennis stars from all year levels dived into an exciting tennis unit. From perfecting the forehand to mastering the backhand, our students rallied their way through fun and skill-building exercises. It was a smashing success!

Swinging into Golf Glory ⛳:

The golf unit was an absolute hit, as students learned the art of striking the ball with finesse. What's more, they had the unique opportunity to tackle Mr. Whitty's world-famous mini golf course. Laughter, camaraderie, and a touch of healthy competition made this unit an unforgettable experience for all.

We are immensely proud of the dedication and enthusiasm our students have shown in PE class this term. As we wrap up the year, we're excited to see what new adventures and skills await us next year!

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a love for physical activity and well-being at Our Lady's Primary School.

Best regards,

Anthony Whitty

Term 4 Library Wrap-up!

As we farewell another year, it's time to reflect on the adventures we've shared in the Library!

Premiers’ Reading Challenge Champions:

Hats off to the outstanding students who completed the Premiers’ Reading Challenge in Term 3! Hopefully those students will receive their certificates next week. Due to the change of premier, certificates needed to be reprinted and are a little later in arriving than usual.

Hume Library Tours and Borrowing

Throughout the year, each class engaged in a tour of the Hume Library. Many students became members prior to their visit and had the opportunity to borrow books. It was great seeing students excited and enthusiastic before and after their visit to such a fantastic free local resource.

Celebrating Consistency 🎉:

A round of applause for the 111 stars who borrowed every library session throughout the school year. These dedicated readers will receive a certificate and a book for their super efforts!

There were two classes who borrowed the most for 2023 - 6D & 4B. Congratulations to those classes. They will receive a pencil with a book quote printed on it.

Students were told that the class that returned their library books first for the end of the year would receive a prize. There were 3 classes that had all books returned first on the same day, so every child in our winning classes will be awarded with a zooper dooper for their achievement - 1C, 3A & 3C!!!

Summer Reading

This holiday season might be the time to turn the page to a new chapter of family fun. A trip to the local library can offer not just books, but an opening to using our imagination. Encourage your children to explore books either already at home or waiting on the library shelves.

Flex Those Brain Muscles!

As the school bells take a break, let's keep our brain power active! Reading isn't just a pleasure; it's a workout for the mind. Like any muscle, the brain needs exercise to thrive. So, let the summer be a season of both sunshine and stories.

How do I motivate my child to read in the summer?

  • Create a Reading List and Fun Reading Challenge with your child
  • Host a Family Reading Night
  • Set aside time and treat reading as an event in your home (it's a great replacement for TV time or Playstation & electronic games, etc.)
  • Choose a story that's suitable for a range of ages for your family storytime
  • Take turns reading out loud and have fun talking about what will happen next
  • Create a reading spot that is just right for independent reading
  • Schedule Reading Time
  • Set a Library Visit day
  • Participate in Hume Library - Big Summer Read
  • Read Aloud to siblings/reading buddy….soft toy
  • Look for Reading Everywhere
  • Find books related to your child’s interests

Library Bag Check

While your children embark on summer adventures, a quick 'handwash' or a replacement might be in order for their library bags. Let's ensure they're ready to bring more stories home in the coming year!

Very Important!

All library books need to be returned as soon as possible. A $10 fee per lost book will be charged, however refunded if the book is found!! We appreciate your support with this!

Wishing you all a restful and reading-filled summer break.

May the adventures continue between the pages!

2023 JLTAV Calligraphy Competition

This year we congratulate Shiny Perera who came first in the 2023 JLTAV (THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION OF VICTORIA, INC.) Calligraphy Competition for her use of brush in the Year Three and Four category. This is an outstanding achievement, and we wish Shiny all the best in her future endeavours.

Japanese Semester 2

During Semester 2 for Japanese, Year  4, 5 and 6 students  learnt  about Japan and its culture and created an information poster to reflect their learning.

Recently students had a lot of fun creating their own origami Santa Claus. Their origami skill are definitely improving!
