God's Love and Care for All

Our Lady's aspires to be a welcoming community unified by love, faith, hope and learning.

Term 1, Week 5

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to our parents who attended the Parent Meet and Greet this week. For our parents, these conversations offer invaluable insights into how your child has settled into the year and their academic achievements so far.  For teachers, it is an opportunity to meet families and gain information about students from who know them the best - their parents! These nights are also a way to connect with our staff, students, and families and foster a partnership between home and school life. When we build strong relationships and work together it has a positive impact on student success.

Shrove Tuesday – A Sweet Start to Lent

Next Tuesday, we will be celebrating Shrove Tuesday, a special tradition marking the beginning of Lent. As part of the day, our students will be indulging in a delicious pancake, symbolizing the feast before the fasting season of Lent begins. We invite parents to join us at morning drop-off to sample a pancake from our Master Chef’s Mr Danny, Mr Cliff and Ale. As students will be provided with pancakes at morning recess, the before school pancakes will just be for our parents. We look forward to seeing you there and complimenting our chefs!

Ash Wednesday Mass: On Wednesday we will be having a whole school Mass which marks the beginning of the Lenten journey. Mass will begin at 10:30am where students will receive ashes as a sign of penance and commitment to our spiritual growth. Families are invited to join us at Mass.

New Parking Restrictions – Bridgewater Road

After ongoing discussions with the council over the past few years, we now have new parking restrictions in place on Bridgewater Road. This area is now designated as a 5-minute Kiss and Drop Zone to ensure a safer and smoother drop-off for all students. We kindly ask that all families adhere to these new parking guidelines for the safety of our children and to keep traffic flowing efficiently during busy periods. The safety of all our school community is paramount : Everyone's support is required to ensure the safety everyone.

This week, we officially commenced our Prep Tours for 2026, welcoming over 50 new families who are eager to join our school community. It was wonderful to see so many prospective parents and children exploring our school and experiencing the warm and engaging environment we pride ourselves on. Thank you to our staff and students who helped showcase what makes our school special! Enrolment forms are now available on our website. https://www.olps.vic.edu.au/prep/

Our Year 3 students will be heading to their  Retreat Day on Tuesday as they prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is a significant step in their faith journey, allowing them time to reflect, pray, and understand the importance of seeking forgiveness and strengthening their relationship with God.

As part of our preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we invite our Year 3 parents to our Parent Faith Night on Thursday 6th March at 7PM. This evening will provide an opportunity for reflection and discussion about the significance of this sacrament in your child’s faith journey. We encourage all parents to attend and engage in this special time of learning and faith formation.

Our Swimming & Water Safety Program commences next week, starting with our Year 2 students heading off to SPLASH. This program is an important part of our curriculum, helping students develop confidence and essential water safety skills. Please ensure your child brings their swimwear, towel, goggles (if required), and a plastic bag for wet items each day. We appreciate your support in preparing them for this valuable learning experience.

Our first School Advisory Board will be on Tuesday 25th March at 7 pm. If you would like to attend, please RSVP  Linda Glouftsis via email: lglouftsis@olps.vic.edu.au.
