Fantastic Start for our 2025 Foundation Students!

Congratulations to our 2025 Foundation students for such an amazing start to the school year! This week marked their first full week, and they have done a fantastic job learning new routines, making new friends, and settling into school life.

Our Foundation students have been practising important routines such as lining up, unpacking their school bags, organising their snacks and lunch, and confidently navigating the playground. Their enthusiasm and resilience have been wonderful to see!

Well done, Foundation students - we can’t wait to see all the wonderful things you will achieve this year!

A reminder that our Foundation Open Classroom & Welcome Picnic is happening on Thursday 27th February.

Year 1 News

Our Year 1 students have had a fantastic start to the year, quickly settling into their learning routines. They impressed us with their independent reading skills, showing that they remember so much from their Foundation year. It was wonderful to see them reading with focus, confidence, and enjoyment!

This week, we also explored problem-solving after reading Rosie Revere, Engineer. The students worked together to create the longest possible paper chain from just one A3 sheet of paper. Their creativity, teamwork, and persistence were on full display! You can see their amazing paper chains hanging in our classroom—a reminder that we are all problem solvers.

We also introduced our Take-Home Teddy program, where each child will have the special opportunity to bring home our class Teddy for a week. During their time together, your child is encouraged to engage in meaningful experiences that reflect our school values of respect, resilience, responsibility, critical thinking and compassion. At the end of the week, they will share their adventures with the class, helping to build confidence, communication skills, and a strong sense of belonging. We look forward to hearing about the wonderful memories they create with their fluffy friends!

We are so proud of their enthusiasm and can’t wait for all the learning ahead!

STEM News

The Year 1 and 2 students are exploring how pushes and pulls affect the movement and direction of objects. Through hands-on activities, they are identifying and categorising these forces, observing how the strength of a force impacts an object’s movement. They are investigating real-world examples by experimenting with a toy car launcher, testing how varying forces influence the distance travelled. Building on this, they are examining gravity as a force that pulls objects towards Earth, using ramps to observe its effects and record their findings.

The Year 3/4 students are completing a unit on heat energy. They are investigating the production of heat through friction, exploring how heat energy is produced, and identifying different sources of heat. They are also conducting an experiment on how heat energy moves and flows from one object to another and that heat can be measured using thermometers.

In Year 5/6, the students are using Snap Circuit kits to investigate electrical circuits, conduct experiments, and design inventions. In this unit, they are examining the various forms of energy, as well as how electricity is generated, transferred, and used in everyday life.
