5/6 CLASSROOM

The Grade 5/6 class have had a great two weeks at school, immersing themselves in the Ochre lessons are learning critically and creatively. They have been very flexible and adaptable as I have been out of the classroom with MultiLit and MacqLit training - I am thankful for a wonderful class of students 🙂
In English, we have been further exploring our text 'War Horse' and creating a narrative based around our theme. Students wrote some fantastic stories and in the next edition of the newsletter, we will share some of our writing. Our next unit of work will continue with 'War Horse' and will focus on persuasive writing.
In Maths, we have moved onto learning about numbers and divisibility concepts - including properties of numbers. Students have been identifying multiples using the distributive property, identifying factors with materials and identifying lowest common multiples. Each day, students participate in a Daily Review, which reviews concepts that have been covered in previous maths lessons.
Our Cross Curriculum learning is focusing on 'Economics & Business', where students have begun to think about their Market Stall ideas and what their target audiences are. Students have come up with some great ideas and we can't wait to share these later in the term.
Sport - students have loved playing sport over the past few weeks in a combined 3-6 group. Soon, students will begin practicing for the Interschool Athletics Sports which is on Monday March 24th.
Homework - students all have diaries and little homework reminders inside. It has been great to see students taking responsibility with completing their reading and times tables practice each night. Thanks to all parents for your support in this area.
