Principals Message

Dear families,

Grade 5/6 Leadership:

A big shout-out to Mrs. Jamieson, Mrs. Cummins, and our incredible Grade 5/6 students for leading our school community through SRC and school assemblies. These students are embracing their leadership roles with confidence and purpose, setting a fantastic example for their peers.

Student voice plays a vital role in shaping our school, and SRC and assemblies provide valuable opportunities for our leaders to step up, take initiative, and grow, even when it means stepping outside their comfort zones. These experiences nurture confidence, responsibility, and maturity, preparing them for the future.

Hats off to our Grade 5/6 students for demonstrating such strong leadership qualities we are incredibly proud of you!

Mrs Parry’s Maternity Leave:

With the much-anticipated arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Parry’s baby, we are nearing Mrs. Parry’s final days with us at St. Mary’s before she begins her maternity leave.

Mrs. Parry, we are so incredibly excited for you and your family as you step into this beautiful new chapter of parenthood. We wish you joy, love, and happiness in the weeks ahead and of course, plenty of rest and sleep!

While we will deeply miss your expertise, energy, and support, our hearts are filled with joy for you as you embark on this special journey. May this time be one of wonder and exhilaration, as you welcome the miracle of new life into your home.

We can’t wait to hear your exciting news and see photos of your precious little one in the near future!

Community News:

What a wonderful community to be a part of! The incredible turnout of parents and families at our recent Whole School Mass, Welcome BBQ, and fortnightly assemblies is a true reflection of the value this community places on engagement and involvement. It is truly heartwarming to see such enthusiasm and support for your children and their learning journey.

I want to extend a huge thank you to each of you for making me feel so welcome in my first weeks here at St. Mary’s. From the staff and students to families, I already feel right at home. It is a privilege to be part of such a caring and connected school community.

Even students who are not in my classroom have gone out of their way to introduce themselves and make me feel like part of the St. Mary’s family something I deeply appreciate. I am so grateful for this opportunity to get to know you all and look forward to being part of your child’s learning journey.

Mr. Ryan – Parental Leave

As you know, Mr. Ryan will be on four weeks of parental leave. During his absence, our school will remain in great hands with our dedicated St Mary’s staff. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher.

In the meantime, Mrs. Katherine Jamieson and Mrs. Angela Fiske-Kealy will be stepping in as Acting Principals. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to either of them, either by phone (5856 1347) or email Mrs. Jamieson (kjamieson@smrushworth.catholic.edu.au) or Mrs. Fiske-Kealy (afiskekealy@smrushworth.catholic.edu.au).

Attendance Matters

Attendance matters! When children attend school regularly, they have the best opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Being at school each day helps them build knowledge, develop friendships, and stay engaged in their learning.

Missing school can make it harder to keep up, leading to gaps in learning and missed social opportunities. Consistent attendance sets children up for success, not just in school but in the future as well. Everyday counts! 😊📚
