Year 3/4

Benvenuti a Year 3/4

Welcome to Term 1 in Year 3/4. Chiara, Kylie, Miguel, Anna and I have all enjoyed the last couple of weeks, supporting your children to settle into their new teams. I would especially like to welcome our new students and families to BSPS.

During our ‘Learning to Learn’ week, the students have been busy making new friends and connecting with old ones, learning about new routines and expectations, unpacking our school values and learning to work both in groups and independently.

Behind the scenes the teachers have been planning lots of rich learning experiences designed to inspire and support our students. We are excited to see the meaningful growth and creativity that will unfold in the coming weeks.

I am new to BSPS and feel so lucky to have landed here. I have been warmly welcomed by all staff and students. I feel privileged to be part of this special community and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Learning to Learn

During Learning to Learn, all the year levels have been reading The Emu who  Run Through the Sky. The 3/4s have been trying to find our school values in the story. So far, Lofty, the emu, has shown the school values of ‘sense of possibility’, ‘compassion’, ‘constant learning’ and ‘mutual responsibility’. All four, wow! I think the eagle has done all four too. And that’s reading in 3/4.

Learning about Fairness

We did a lesson, what’s fair and unfair?.There was a fair side of the classroom and an unfair side of the classroom. Cate read out a scenario, like if there are four children and four biscuits then everyone should get one biscuit. Is that fair? You had to pick which side you should go. You say why you went to that side. I picked fair, because there are the same number of cookies as people.
