Welcome back everyone, and a special welcome to our new families and staff members! We extend a warm invitation to our Welcome Picnic this Friday afternoon from 4-6pm. Many new friendships are made at this annual event, and we hope to see many of you there!
Staff have done a wonderful job in establishing routines and setting everyone up for a successful start to the year with our Learning to Learn program. I’ve enjoyed visiting classes and can see how well everyone has settled into the rhythm of the new school year. Students have shown tremendous effort in embracing our school values: Constant Learning, Mutual Responsibility, Sense of Possibility, and Compassion. These values guide us in everything we do, helping our school community grow stronger every day.
I’m pleased to introduce our 2025 Year Level Leaders: Nancy, Faith, Kate, Cate, and Simonetta. They do so much to support our students behind the scenes, and we’re incredibly grateful for their leadership and dedication to building such strong learning communities.
Every classroom at BSPS is a place where students should feel safe to be themselves, to try new things, and to celebrate one another’s achievements. After all, we are all here to learn, and making mistakes is part of the process. It's through our mistakes that we grow and improve. I’ve loved seeing students encouraging each other to keep trying when something is hard at first. These little gestures really do help foster our culture of belonging and constant learning.
Celebrating Achievements
At BSPS, we love to celebrate each other’s achievements, and we’ve already had a number of students earn a Learning Legend award for demonstrating our values over the course of a week. Some of our students have also received our new Kaleidoscope Award. This award is sent home via Compass to parents and carers so we can celebrate together when teachers notice a student showing one of our core values, so please keep an eye on your email inbox!
A Special Shout-out to Our Foundation Students
I want to take a moment to give a special shout-out to our Foundation students. They have absolutely amazed me with their enthusiasm as they’ve jumped into life as big school kids. They’ve embraced their learning with such energy, and I’m particularly proud of how they’ve taken to our bilingual program with so much enthusiasm. They attended their very first whole school assembly on Monday, where they listened attentively and respectfully as their Year 5/6 peers hosted the event. Each one of them is already a BSPS superstar! Grazie mille to Nancy and the Foundation team for ensuring such a positive start. Thanks also Foundation parents for all you do at home to support your little ones during this huge step in their lives!
