School Representative Sport
Dear Parents,
At Kildare, we are lucky to see so many talented young athletes who are all eager to represent themselves and the school in many different sports.
We offer a wide range of sporting opportunities, such as; Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, Athletics, Touch Football, Australian Rules Football, Rugby League, Netball and many others catering to various interests and skill levels. We encourage all students to get involved and experience the many benefits of team participation, from physical fitness to building camaraderie and developing essential life skills.
Please see the following information regarding how representative sport (team and individual pathways) is facilitated here at Kildare.
Individual Pathway Sports
Kildare students are encouraged to nominate themselves for individual pathway selection through the Wagga Wagga Diocesan Sport / NSWCCC (NSW Combined Catholic Colleges) pathway - https://csnsw.sport/
The NSWCCC Website (above) will have plenty of information regarding which sports are available and for what age (eg. most team sports are U/15 or Open Age level). This is for any students who wish to trial for higher representative teams - NSWCCC Netball etc.
This would be encouraged for any student who has representative experience in their chosen sport, whether Kildare has an active team in that sport or not. NSWCCC offers up to 24 sports through the Individual pathway.
Swimming, Athletics & Cross Country - Students progress through the representative pathway based on their performance at the Kildare Carnivals & BISSA Carnivals (Border Independent School Sports Association).
School Sport Teams
It’s fantastic that so many students express interest in playing sports for our teams each year. This high level of interest demonstrates the passion and talent we have here at Kildare Catholic College.
However, due to the popularity of these programs and the limited number of team positions available, we unfortunately cannot accommodate every student who trials. We understand this can be disappointing for many students, and we want to assure you that our coaches make their selections based on a variety of factors, including skill, attitude, and commitment along with where a team may have reached in a competition.
Due to staff availability, calendar clashes and various other factors - it is not possible to enter every NSW School-based sporting competition. For students who may not have had an opportunity to participate in their preferred sport - we encourage you to try an alternative school sport.
For those students who aren't selected for a particular team, we encourage them not to give up and to continue pursuing their sport through their regular avenues. There will always be other opportunities to stay active and involved in the school community such as alternative sports or trialling again in their future years of high school.
We appreciate you supporting your child in navigating the potential disappointment that may arise in these situations.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Ryan Price | Kildare Sport Coordinator
