School Class Times
Below is our daily class time schedule. Most students arrive between 8:30am and 8:50am to unpack their bags and set up their equipment prior to the day beginning. Please note that yard duty supervision begins from 8:30am. The school gates will be closed prior to this time. Upon dismissal, the administration building exit will be locked, this is to ensure everyone exits via the Hay Avenue gate and uses the crossing safely. Broadway Street gates will be open upon dismissal also.
Eating Times
Below is an outline of when students eat throughout the school day. It is important to note that students eat their lunch at 11:20am. This is also when Hungie Fangs deliver lunch orders (Tues - Fri). Fruit time is also an important energy boost mid session, we encourage foods similar to those listed below.
PBIS - Whole school expectations
At St. Joseph's, we follow the PBIS Framework of Always Respectful, Always Safe and Always Learning. PBIS Stands for Positive Behaviours Interventions and Supports. All our behaviour corrections are taught by the way of instructions, rather than 'don't' rules, eg) Walk Inside instead of "Don't Run". We pride ourselves on offering students learning opportunities when undesirable behaviours arise rather than consequences. We have utilised this approach for the past 12 years and it is proving successful. The umbrella character is our mascot, "Mr PB".
Reminder: Parking Restrictions Around Our School
We kindly remind everyone to be mindful of parking restrictions around our school to ensure the safety of our students and the smooth operation of daily drop-offs and pick-ups.
Please avoid parking in designated bus zones, which are located on:
- Broadway Street
- Hay Avenue
- Gregory Street
These areas are strictly reserved for school buses. Parking in these zones can create congestion and pose safety risks for students boarding or exiting buses.
We also ask that you refrain from parking in the staff car park, as this area is reserved for staff members only.
Additionally, we ask that you do not park in the senior citizens' car park on Hay Avenue. This parking area is reserved for elderly members of our community, and we appreciate your cooperation in keeping it accessible for them.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our school community safe and respectful for everyone
Important Update: Hay Avenue Crossing Changes
Moira Shire has informed us that the School Crossing on Hay Avenue has been refurbished and changed to a Pedestrian Crossing. As a result, there will no longer be school crossing flags displayed during school pick-up and drop-off times.
However, our school crossing supervisor will still be present at the beginning and end of the school day to assist students and families in crossing safely.
The permanent yellow signs indicate that this is now a Pedestrian Crossing, meaning vehicles must give way to pedestrians at all times, day and night.
We ask all drivers to approach with caution and always give way to those using the crossing.
For further information or clarification, please contact Moira Shire directly. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe.

Scholastic Book Club
At St. Joseph's, we offer families the opportunity to purchase reading material from Scholastic Australia. Scholastic offers families regular access to quality, affordable books while partnering with schools and giving back through the Scholastic Rewards program where every order gives 15% back to your school. This enables us to purchase new reading material for our library, which your children can then borrow and enjoy, so thank you for supporting this incentive.
This week your child was given a Scholastic Book Club catalogue (ISSUE 1) to take home. Orders can be placed online or sent to school in an envelope with payment, by Friday 21st February 2025. Details explaining how to order online can be found in the catalogue. If using the online LOOP system to order, please ensure you enter your child’s class from the selected menu using capital letters and no spaces. e.g., FKO, 1HT, 2FD, 3NB, 4GK, 5VO and 6NW.
Books always make great gifts for birthdays and other special occasions. If you have any queries, please contact Mrs Natale at school or at carmelnatale@sjcobram.catholic.edu.au
(Two catalogues per school Term)
We are kicking things off with LOTS of value for families, such as our FREE BOOKS offer + $5 PROMO CODES*.
A reminder for those families who ordered books from Issue 8 last year, you can spend the $5 promo code on Issue 1. Once again, every order placed with Issue 1 will receive a $5 Promo Code, with every order over $15, to be redeemed on Issue 2 - (LOOP ORDER ONLY)

Library Borrowing
Your child’s class visited the library this week and were given the opportunity to borrow some reading material. Please ensure your child brings their blue folder or another appropriate bag to school each day so that when they visit the library they can borrow. It is important that we teach the children to take care of our books by keeping them clean and free from damage – thus the need for a bag.
Students have the opportunity to borrow during their LOTE (Italian) lesson as well as visiting the library with their classroom teacher. The library is also open before school each day (8:30-8:50am), giving students the opportunity to change their books regularly.
If any parents want to borrow from the library, they are also welcome to. Just pop in and see Mrs Natale and we can set you up.
PARISH REQUEST
St. Joseph’s Parish is looking for some shelving or wardrobes that would be suitable for storage. If you have either of these items and no longer want them, please contact the school office and we will put you in touch with a Parish representative.
