Using Our Gifts and Talents To Build God’s Kingdom
At St Bede’s College, we welcome the opening of the Jubilee Year by Pope Francis and look forward to the opportunities that we will have to mark the significance of this year. We come together as ‘Pilgrims of Hope,’ walking with faith, trust, and hope in God's presence with us. We journey forward with hearts full of purpose, guided by the light of Christ, and filled with the hope that sustains us. May we open our hearts to God as we begin our year together.
We commenced our Welcome Assembly with a reading from St Paul’s letter to the Corinthians reminding us that we have been given individual talents and gits that are to be used to make our families, friendship groups, school and communities better places. It is our responsibility to discover these God given gifts and to determine how best to use them:
A Reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians (12:4-11)
Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services but the same Lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of powerful deeds, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.
We pray … God of Hope, thank you for bringing us together as pilgrims on this journey of faith. We ask that during this special Jubilee Year, you fill our hearts with hope and joy. Help us to recognize the unique gifts you have given to each of us so that we may use them to help others with love and kindness.
Guide us throughout this Jubilee year, and fill us with courage to share the message of hope and peace, and to spread your love wherever we go.
Bless our school community, and help us to walk together ‘by right paths’, united in purpose and mission. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Live Jesus in our hearts … forever

The Mass will be held at our Mentone Campus Sports Centre, followed by a light supper.
Enhancing Catholic School Identity surveys (ECSI)
ECSI surveys capture a snapshot of the attitudes among students, teachers, staff, leaders and families towards the foundations of Catholic school identity. At St Bede’s College, we rely on this critical data (feedback) so we can plan for our future with authenticity and intention.
Your feedback is essential, so please take the time (around 55 minutes) to complete the surveys when the links are shared with you. Be assured that responses will be anonymous. The surveys will close on the 25th of April 2025.
