PREP NEWS

What a fantastic start to Week 3! Our Prep students have continued to embrace full school days with enthusiasm, even with the hot weather. A huge thank you to all families for taking the time to participate in Parent-Teacher Interviews – we appreciate your support and partnership in your child's learning journey.
We have been up to lots of great learning and connections!
LIBRARY
This week, we enjoyed a lovely visit to the library! If your child borrowed a book, we encourage you to read together and discuss the story or share facts from non-fiction books. Please remember to return borrowed books on Wednesdays for our weekly library sessions.
LITERACY
In our Little Learners Love Literacy program, we met two new characters to help us remember the /f/ and /a/ sounds – Felix the Frog /f/ and Ally the Alligator /a/. Students created crafts to reinforce these characters and continued practising their handwriting. We also explored friendship through literature, reading Friendship is Like a Seesaw in Prep A and Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley in Prep B. After reading, students engaged in drawing and writing activities to reflect on these stories.
MATHEMATICS
This week, we have continued practising counting through engaging games and digit crafts. We explored the concept of number names by identifying the number of letters in our own names. Additionally, we began learning how to write the number 0 using digit roads and a helpful rhyme:0 - Around and around we go to make zero.1 - Down and done with one.
FINE MOTOR DEVELOPMENT
We have continued to develop our fine motor skills through daily Finger Gym and fine motor rotations. These activities help build strength and coordination, supporting students' handwriting and other essential skills.
INQUIRY
Our Inquiry learning remains focused on Fairness and Friendship. We have been exploring how to treat others kindly and understanding both our own feelings and those of our peers. Through books and scenario discussions, students have been deepening their understanding of these important concepts.
HOMEWORK
We will begin handing out homework next week. More details will be shared soon!
We are so proud of our Prep students for their continued enthusiasm and engagement. Looking forward to another great week ahead!
