What's been happening this week?

MATHS FUN
The Year 1/2 students have been having fun during Maths this week. We have been exploring number patterns on the 100s and 200s chart. We even played “Guess the missing number” which the students enjoyed playing with a partner.
We have continued to build relationships and extend our understanding of the school values. We have been collecting a lot of eggs!
WEEK 3 IN YEAR 3/4
We’ve had a productive week in Year 3/4, from odd and even numbers, to finding ‘Just Right Books’, to writing persuasive letters. We’ve enjoyed the opportunity to meet and speak with 3/4 parents at our first Parent-Teacher Interviews this week. Thank you for making the time to come and speak with your classroom teachers.
Homework
Students have commenced Reading, Spelling and Maths homework this week. For your information, here are the homework procedures expected in Year 3/4:
Read for a minimum 60 minutes throughout the week (Monday – Thursday). This may look like 25 minutes one night and 5 minutes the next. For each day of reading, students are to record the book title and duration, and parents are to sign at the bottom of the page.
Practise spelling their six words of the week (red list, yellow list or green list) with a creative task in their Homework book. Students have been provided with a sheet full of creative activities to choose from. Choose one activity per night to complete (Monday-Thursday).
Maths are paper worksheets, for example this week’s ‘Maths Maze’, and in the coming weeks students will gain access to Mathletics for future homework tasks.
Hand in both the diary and Homework book on Friday morning to their teacher. We will view, correct and sign the work before handing the books back.
The primary purpose of homework in Year 3 and 4 is to develop organisational skills, independence and accountability for our students. We understand students have other commitments outside of skill, therefore the quantity of homework completed is really up to your discretion. We appreciate your help with homework and communicating any needs with us via email. Thank you!
