MLK Exploring Rhythm and Sound

In MLK we have been exploring rhythm and sound patterns within a text. Some devices that we have been learning about are;

Alliteration – a succession of similar sounds, often at the beginning of words in a line.

Repetition-Repetition is when a certain word, sentence or phrase is written more than once in a piece of writing or a poem.

Rhyme- a repetition of similar sounds

Onomatopoeia – words that sound like the sounds they are describing

Puns- A pun is a type of joke that makes use of word play.

Nonsense words- words without a clear meaning or any meaning at all. Students have been reading poems and searching for the rhythm and sound devices.
