We hope to see everyone at our first community event for the year: the Wominjeka Picnic. This is an event co-organised with OSHC, so if your child attends OSHC on a Friday, they will be able to attend as well. Please bring picnic gear (food, drinks, chairs/rugs) along for a school picnic following a welcome to country and smoking ceremony to kick off our year together. If you have some fun lawn games that you are happy to share (eg. giant jenga, quoits, finska, picnic rug twister etc), please bring these along as well!

The plan for the afternoon is as follows:

2:45-3:30 Open afternoon (in classrooms)

3:30-4:30 Welcome to country/smoking ceremony (in Yakai Baring if weather allows)

4:30-6 Picnic and games (on oval if weather allows)

It would be great for both old and new families to plan to come along and make this a great start to the year.

Volunteer!

The Community Events Team is all about keeping things manageable, but we would love to encourage people to get involved with the school in the way that works best for your family. We aim to run one bigger and 1-2 smaller events each term, and there will be opportunities to contribute in different ways. We also welcome anyone interested in joining the team this year, either as a committee member or to help organise a particular event. Get in touch if you are interested!

Other CET dates ahead:

Plant and Produce Market - 21 March: bake or bring plants/produce, and/or set up and serve at the market 2:30-4pm. We will be asking grade 6 parents to assist with setting up and serving at this event, and the whole school community to contribute produce or baked goods if they can.

If you want to get in touch about community events, email Anne and Brigid (co-chairs) at  cet@brunswicknwps.vic.edu.au

Please see your Term 1 school calendar for dates or pick up one from the front office!

All volunteers at the school need a valid Working With Children’s Check - click this link to apply if you don’t have one. It’s fairly straightforward and free for volunteers.
