Student Learning

To celebrate Reconciliation Week, students in F12 and N5 participated in a special buddy class activity to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. National Reconciliation Week is held each year from 27 May to 3 June and provides an opportunity for all Australians to reflect on our shared history, build respectful relationships, and work towards a more united future. Students discussed the importance of reconciliation and explored the rich traditions and artistic practices of First Nations peoples.
Working collaboratively with their buddies, students decorated a boomerang using Indigenous symbols and traditional dot painting techniques. They carefully selected symbols to represent ideas such as friendship, community, learning, and connection. The activity encouraged teamwork, creativity, and meaningful conversations while helping students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indigenous culture. The finished boomerangs were a colourful and meaningful display of our commitment to reconciliation.
