Indigenous News

We acknowledge Dja Dja Wurrung, the Djaara people, as the traditional custodians of the land on which St Joseph’s Primary School is built. We pay our respects to the elders, past and present, and pay tribute to the unique role they play in the life of this region. At St Joseph's school we are inspired by the world’s oldest living culture and celebrate their continuing contribution to the life of this region and the sharing of knowledge. We call on the spirit ancestors to walk with us always as we share and learn together as one.
"Together We Walk" is the 2026 theme of the Opening the Doors Foundation. It encourages all Australians to walk together toward better educational outcomes for First Nations students.
This year they are inviting schools, workplaces and community groups to support First Nations students across Australia by fundraising.
As a FIRE carrier school we work in partnership with the foundation to bring awareness and to raise funds. This year we are bringing awareness to this fundraiser. If you are able to help out in any way please use the QR code below.
Thank you
Mel Ryan
