SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION:

Next Tuesday 18th August many of our students will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We remember these students in our prayers and wish them all the very best for their celebration.

We pray for these students and continue to think of them as they prepare.

GOSPEL

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew

Woman, you have great faith.

Jesus left Gennesaret and withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. Then out came a Canaanite woman from that district and started shouting, ‘Sir, Son of David, take pity on me. My daughter is tormented by a devil.’ But he answered her not a word. And his disciples went and pleaded with him. ‘Give her what she wants,’ they said ‘because she is shouting after us.’ He said in reply, ‘I was sent only to the lost sheep of the House of Israel.’ But the woman had come up and was kneeling at his feet. ‘Lord,’ she said ‘help me.’ He replied, ‘It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the house-dogs.’ She retorted, ‘Ah yes, sir; but even house-dogs can eat the scraps that fall from their master’s table.’ Then Jesus answered her, ‘Woman, you have great faith. Let your wish be granted.’ And from that moment her daughter was well again.

Children discussion starters

In today’s Gospel, what question did Jesus ask his disciples?

What did Simon Peter boldly say?

Let us take a few moments to think how we might answer Jesus’ question.

Who do you say Jesus is?

Jesus is both God and human.

How does believing in Jesus change us?

We pray that Jesus will be with us this week as we live as his disciples.

Drew Lane, workshop and concert.

This term we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with Drew Lane from Butterfly music. Many of the songs and music we use during class prayer, whole school masses and liturgies come from Butterfly Music.

On Friday 14th August all the students will have the opportunity to work with Drew during a workshop. The students will also have the opportunity to present a concert in the afternoon from 2.15pm-3.15pm. We warmly invite parents, carers and friends to join us during the afternoon session to enjoy a short concert.
