Another Amazing Year at EduTech: Inspiration, Innovation, and the WHSC Crew!
Last year, David Gill and I had our first taste of EduTech, and we were blown away by the energy and possibilities. This year, it was an honour to not only return but to be more involved. David was brilliant on a panel discussing the future of AI in education, and I had the privilege of presenting alongside my incredible mentee, Laura McClure, on how we're using technology to empower student voices at WHSC.
But the highlight? Hands down, it was the presence of our amazing WHSC crew. Their support and enthusiasm were infectious. We had our fantastic principal, Fern Brisbane, and a beautiful representation of our school, our Learning Specialists, and a group of teachers and tech specialists, all eager to learn and grow together. Their camaraderie was so strong that a fellow presenter joked that she wanted to join our team! 😂
To the WHSC crew: Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You make our school a special place, and your commitment to innovation inspires me every day. EduTech was made richer by your presence, and I'm so proud to be part of such a dedicated team. My Top 5 Inspirational Presenters!
EduTECH 2024 was a whirlwind of insights and innovation. So many incredible speakers shared their wisdom, but these five left a lasting impression on me:
Sal Khan - "Brave New Words: How AI Will Revolutionise Education": Khan's vision for AI's potential in education is both inspiring and challenging. It pushed me to think about the possibilities and responsibilities that come with these new tools.
James Curran - "Understanding GenAI Intuitively: How It Works and What It All Means": Curran's presentation demystified the complexities of GenAI in an accessible way. It provided valuable insights for educators navigating this rapidly evolving landscape.
Lauren Sayer GAICD FACEL - "Neurodiversity in Leadership": Sayer's talk was a powerful reminder of the unique strengths neurodiverse individuals bring to leadership roles. It challenged me to rethink traditional notions of leadership and create more inclusive environments.
Dr Selena Fisk- "Using Data to Measure Your Impact": Fisk's practical approach to data analysis empowered educators to make evidence-based decisions. It underscored the importance of data in driving meaningful change.
Andrew Balzer - "Demystifying Microsoft Copilot for Schools – How the Suite Can Meet Your Varying AI Needs": Balzer's presentation showcased the versatility of Microsoft Copilot in education. It offered practical examples of how this suite can support personalised learning and streamline workflows.
I'm still buzzing with ideas from EduTECH, and I'm eager to implement these insights in my own practice. Thank you to all the presenters for sharing their expertise and passion!
