Hello everyone,

The beautiful image above includes the new name for our library space, Galkangu. We have been given permission by the Djarra Board of Directors to use the word. The English translation of Galkangu can mean- build together, make things happen together and more connected to country.

In choosing a suitable word for our space, Ms Perley, one of our 5/6WP teacher's,  has been connecting our Koorie student leaders with local artists and our Koorie Education Support Officer.

Ally Charles and Tammy Nancarrow are the indigenous artists who created the stunning art work for our library space. Ally and Tammy will be back at school next week to work with our Koorie Student Leaders to complete the art work by decorating native animal shapes to go around the larger art work.

Next term, we will hold an official naming ceremony for the library.

Keep those survey responses coming please! we are getting closer to our aim of 55 families completing the survey, as of today, we have had 33 responses. Please take a few minutes to give us your feedback.

Staff heading off on leave.

Next week, Nicole Lowe will be enjoying a week of Long Service Leave. Sarah Myles will teach grade F/1L.

Lisa Fasham will also be enjoying Long Service Leave from 12 September until Monday 21st October.

Kim Kirkpatrick will be enjoying Long Service Leave from Monday 16 September until Monday 14 October.

And Xiaolan Thornton, a new member of our ES team, will be enjoying some leave from 12 September until end of term.

Our next student free day, Tuesday 3rd September.
