Conversation Starters

We recognise the importance of the connection between family, students and schools. In this newsletter, I've provided some sentence starters to assist families in sparking conversations at home:

  1. What was the best part of your day at school today?
  2. Did anything surprise you in class today?
  3. Tell me about something new you learned today.
  4. Was there anything that made you feel proud today?
  5. Did you help anyone today, or did someone help you?
  6. What subject do you find most interesting right now?
  7. Is there anything you’re looking forward to at school this week?
  8. What’s something you’d like to improve or work on in school?
  9. Can you teach me something you learned today?
  10. What did your teacher talk about that you found interesting?

Attendance

Attendance at school is important, it creates connections and provides students a sequence in their learning. The school day commences at 9am and the last class finishes at 3:20pm. All students are required to be at school on time and attend classes, including Home Group. If students can’t attend school please contact the school office to ensure that we can correctly record their attendance. If a student needs support or has concerns, please be sure to contact the Home Group teacher or Student Engagement Leader to work towards addressing these concerns.

CONNECT

Our CONNECT program is designed to keep Year 7-9 students engaged and connected at school until the end of the year. We hold high expectations for attendance until each student's final day of formal schooling. We welcome feedback from parents to better understand any challenges related to school attendance. We've shared the last day of formal classes here, to assist families with their planning.

Year 12 last day of classes is on Monday 21st October. Graduation is planned for November 20 (last day of exams).

Year 11 last day of classes is Tuesday 26th November, with Wednesday 27th to 29th being the Year 11 camp.
