Duke of Edinburgh

Duke of Edinburgh Award First Aid Course

This term, the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh students completed a first aid course as part of their skills section.

They followed a syllabus that covered CPR, anaphylaxis, major bleeds, asthma, airway obstructions and more.  All this theoretical content was put into practice when undertaking their assessments.  Practical assessments were all passed with students demonstrating their skills very efficiently to both assessors.

Even though some students were very nervous about the theory test paper, and much happier with the practical demonstrations, all were successful in achieving the award which is valid for 3 years and is a great addition to their resumés.

Term 4 will see the cohort finish their Bronze award with the Adventurous Journey where they will walk 2 sections of the Great Ocean Walk.  Whilst out, they will take in some great views of the Victorian coast line, and be independent and self-sufficient for the duration of the camp.
