Year 7 and 8

Year 7 and Year 8 Newsletter – End of Term 3

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

As we reach the end of Term 3, we celebrate a term marked by significant accomplishments and the continued growth of our Year 7 and Year 8 students.

Academic Highlights

Students have worked diligently across all subjects, showing growth in their understanding and skills. The focus on collaborative learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving has been central to our teaching, and we are proud of the progress everyone has made. Throughout the term, students have contributed to a positive learning environment, fostering a sense of respect, collaboration, and curiosity in the classroom.

Uniform Competition

Our Year 8 students showed responsibility through wearing their College uniforms with pride. Congratulations to the winning students, who enjoyed a celebratory lunch! Yum! Let’s see who will win the next round…

Work Habit Ratings Celebration

At our recent assembly, students who achieved high Work Habit Ratings were celebrated for their dedication and commitment to their studies. These ratings reflect consistent effort, time management, and a positive attitude toward learning. We are incredibly proud of these students for setting a strong example for their peers.

Piano Performance by Thomas Peake

We were also treated to a beautiful piano performance by Thomas Peake during our Junior School Assembly. His performance captivated the audience and added a special touch to the celebration. Congratulations to Thomas for sharing his talent with us!

College Play Recognition

We would also like to recognise and congratulate all students who participated in the College play, High School Musical. Their dedication, talent, and hard work brought the production to life and contributed greatly to its success. Well done to everyone involved!

Student Wellbeing

At the heart of everything we do as a College is student wellbeing. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where every student feels valued. We encourage all students to regularly check in with a trusted adult—whether it’s a teacher, youth worker, Education Support or a member of leadership—whenever they need guidance or support. Maintaining strong connections is key to ensuring their overall wellbeing and success.

Year 8 Subject Selection

A significant milestone for Year 8 students this term was completing their subject selections for the upcoming year. This is an exciting time as students begin to think about their future areas of focus and interests. We are confident that they have made thoughtful decisions that will help them excel in the coming year.

Year 7 Excursion to the Melbourne Zoo

Year 7 students will be heading on an excursion to the Melbourne Zoo on Friday 20th September. This excursion will provide students with a valuable opportunity to learn about wildlife, conservation, and the importance of biodiversity.

Student Voice and Agency

In preparation for the end of Term 4, Year 7 and Year 8 students have been actively engaging in student voice and agency by making thoughtful suggestions for our Vertical Learning Journeys program. These suggestions reflect their interests and aspirations, and we look forward to incorporating their ideas into the learning experiences next term.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Our recently held Parent Teacher Interviews, which are a vital opportunity to discuss student progress and goals, were very well attended. We appreciate the positive partnership between our staff, students, and parents/carers. Your engagement and support are crucial to our collective success, and we are grateful for the collaborative efforts that contribute to our students' achievements.

Attendance Competition

Looking ahead to Term 4, we are excited to announce an Attendance Competition taking place across Junior School. We will be celebrating the classes with the best attendance throughout Term 4. This initiative aims to encourage students to attend regularly and engage fully in their learning. Let’s aim to make Term 4 our best yet in terms of attendance!

Looking Ahead to Term 4

As we look forward to the final term of the year, there is much to anticipate. Term 4 will include exciting projects, end-of-year celebrations, and opportunities for students to consolidate their learning and prepare for the next stage in their educational journey.

We wish all students and families a safe and restful holiday break, and we look forward to seeing everyone return refreshed and ready for the opportunities and challenges of Term 4!

Warm regards,

Junior School Team
