Principal's Message

Dear Families,

“One kind word can warm three winter months.”

Japanese Proverb

Although Winter is not everyone’s favourite season, we have much to be thankful for. There have been studies undertaken that show that the cold air boosts brain activity, improves focus and helps us think more clearly. We hope you will embrace these winter months and stay focused on the presence of God in our lives, all tasks that are before us, learning new things and enjoying a sound night’s sleep.

The Most Holy Trinity – the mystery of our God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit is celebrated this coming weekend. Sunday’s Gospel tells us that God is with us, Jesus is with us, and the Holy Spirit is with us. They are the three persons in One God. Through reading scripture and listening to the Gospel we are more able to understand who God is, our connection to Christ and the mission we have been given.

Many of the prayers of the Church express our belief in a triune God (three persons in one). One of the most known prayers is the Sign of the Cross, in which we dedicate ourselves ‘in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.’

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen

World Ocean Day

World Ocean Day is coming up next week on Tuesday 2nd June and our ISIC ambassadors are preparing for an amazing day of learning and fun. We will start with an assembly in the hall from 8:55am. Students will then complete a range of learning experiences that are aimed to help them understand the importance of our oceans and waterways.

Don't forget students can wear a costume to match our ocean theme and are encouraged to bring "nude food" to show a commitment to reducing rubbish and litter.

Closure Days

A friendly reminder that the school will be closed on both Monday 8th June and Tuesday 9th June. We will reopen on Wednesday 10th June at 8:30am. Have a great long weekend!

Fete Meeting

Our next fete meeting is online on Monday 1st June from 7pm-8pm. Please join us as we prepare for the fete. If you can't make it by 7pm just jump online when you can.

School Photos

We have had a few people asking about receiving the school photos. The School Photographer has advised that we should be receiving these by week ending 19th June.

Fidget Toys

There has been a big increase in the number of students bringing fidget toys such as squishies to school. While these can be a useful tool in some instances, in most cases they are a distraction. We ask students not to bring these toys to school unless it has been discussed with the classroom teacher on an individual needs basis.

Semester One Reports

Student reports provide a valuable summary of your child’s learning progress, achievements and areas for future growth. They are an important way for teachers, students and families to celebrate progress and set goals for future learning.

Semester 1 student reports will be available through the nForma app from Thursday, 25th June. Families will be able to view and download a PDF copy of their child’s report directly from the app.

Unwell Students

As we are starting to see the weather change, it is timely to remind parents not to send their children to school sick. Coughs and colds spread rapidly in a classroom environment. We care about the health of all our students and staff, particularly those who are more vulnerable. We kindly ask for your help to stop the spread of sickness by keeping your child at home if they are not feeling well. If your child is unwell they will not comprehend or retain information taught throughout the day. The best place is for them to be at home in their comfortable surroundings where they can be properly cared for by a parent or guardian. Children who exhibit symptoms of illness should not attend school until they are fully recovered. If your child exhibits symptoms at school we will call you and send them home. Please ensure your contact details are up to date. Please contact the school office if you need to change your details.
