Recycling for Good Stuff

Shhh, nobody tell Allison, please!
While she’s been away, I’ve been busy collecting cans and bottles from the school’s boxes, and last week counted 195 containers, to add to the tally. It stands at $294.90. That’s a lot of money, to be donated to local charities, chosen by SKiPPS children.
Let’s see if we can surprise Allison with even more before she returns!
A big THANK YOU to all who’ve been dropping 10c containers in the box. You know who you are!
For others, a gentle reminder – and prod!
If you’re recycling containers at home, for the refund: GREAT! If not, why not?!! And why not bring them into school, and drop them off at the school box?!!
It’s a wonderful way to help look after this beautiful old planet of ours, by participating in a ‘circular economy’. And by giving the raised funds to local charities, SKiPPS demonstrates further its leadership in the local community. It’s a fun thing to do. And also, this: every time I look inside the school’s top box, and see it filled with 10c containers, the sight makes the heart of an old man sing!
All this giving! This kindness! It means much.
Next door at the St Kilda Sports Club, we’ve raised $1831 (and counting) for the Sacred Heart Mission. And I collect also from the Middle Park Bowling Club, to donate to South Port Community Housing, who do great work for those in need.
And here’s an offer: if you, or anyone you know, is having a big party or hosting a festival in the greater St Kilda area, and will be generating a lot of 10c containers, and you’d like to bring them into the school, but it’s too much to carry – contact me! Text or call me on 0425 005 531. I’ll come pick ‘em up, and add ‘em to the school’s tally. Easy peasey.
And when Allison returns, her and the Green Team have a big bunch of funds to give to local charities. Yippee!
