PSSA State Knockout Competition

State Knockout Football

On Thursday, 11 June 2026, Carlingford West Public School faced Warragamba Public School at Gow Park in Round 3 of the State Knockout Competition. Despite the final scoreline, the match was much closer than it appeared, with both teams creating scoring opportunities in an exciting end-to-end contest.

The game was played at a fast pace from the opening whistle, with possession swinging back and forth and both sides threatening to break through. Strong defending and excellent goalkeeping kept the scores level early, while several close chances had spectators on the edge of their seats.

Carlingford West gradually gained momentum and took control with two well-worked goals before halftime to lead 2–0. Warragamba Public School continued to fight hard in the second half and came close to finding the back of the net on several occasions, but the Carlingford West defence remained composed under pressure.

Year 5 student Jayden X delivered a memorable performance, scoring all four goals for Carlingford West. His clinical finishing, combined with the team's determination and teamwork, helped Carlingford West secure a 4–0 victory.

The win sees Carlingford West advance to Round 4 of the State Knockout Competition.

Congratulations to all players on their effort, sportsmanship, and teamwork in what was an entertaining and hard-fought match.

Carlingford West Students Shine on the Representative Sports Stage

Carlingford West Public School is proud to celebrate the outstanding sporting achievements of two of our students who recently represented their school and region at major Sydney West events.

From 22–28 May, Theo S from Class 6E proudly represented Sydney West at the State Basketball Championships. Competing against some of the strongest school-aged basketball players from across New South Wales, Theo and his teammates demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the week-long tournament.

Their hard work paid off with an impressive second-place finish, a remarkable achievement at the state level. Theo's selection in the Sydney West team and his contribution to their success reflect his dedication to the sport and countless hours of training.

Meanwhile, on 9 June, Teresa S from Class 4W represented Castle Hill Zone at the Sydney West Cross Country Championships. Taking on a challenging course against a highly competitive field of talented runners, Teresa showed tremendous resilience and perseverance to finish in 19th place. Her determination and commitment to giving her best effort are commendable and serve as an inspiration to her peers.

These achievements highlight not only the sporting talent within our school but also the values of commitment, sportsmanship, and perseverance that our students demonstrate both on and off the field.

We congratulate Theo and Teresa on their fantastic accomplishments and thank their families, coaches, and teachers for their ongoing support in helping them pursue their sporting goals.
