ABC Education Writing Competition Winners.
During Term 1, as part of an ABC writing competition, 5 and 6 Aqua were invited to write a letter to an individual or group who they think can make a difference on an issue that’s important to them.
Congratulations to Harry and Hector who were awarded runners up and to Nabila and Aashwika who were two of the winners of the competition! Their creativity and ability to express their ideas with clarity and originality have truly impressed.
We are proud to celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing how they continue to develop their talents in the future. May they keep writing and inspiring others with their words!

Peer Mentoring
Last week the Carlingford West STEM Squad mentored Kindy Purple students in 3D printing. The Science lesson focused on life cycles where students researched the steps, then blended STEM and Biology.
Students were able to explore and physically arrange the stages, using printed models. It made the abstract scientific concepts tactile and engaging. Peer mentoring in schools is highly beneficial as it bridges age gaps, creates safe, connected school communities and boosts academic achievement and emotional wellbeing.

Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition
Throughout Term 2, students in years 3-6 have been engaged in the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition. Students were tasked with writing a speech from a range on multicultural topics including race, equality and being a part of a multicultural country.
Students presented their speeches to their own classes. From here, teachers chose 2 students to represent their class at the grade finals.

Then in weeks 4, 5 and 6, the class representatives presented their speech to their whole grade.Students did a fantastic job on projecting their voices, using expression and presenting interesting ideas on their various topics. From here, teachers chose 2 representatives to represent their grade.

On Wednesday 3rd June, the grade representatives delivered their speech to the executive and the school. All 10 of them did a phenomenal job and should be so proud of their achievements.
From here, 2 students per stage were chosen to represent the school in the local finals where they compete against other local schools.

On Thursday 11th June, the above 4 students represented Carlingford West. The 4 students were up against 24 other fantastic speakers from other schools. Isabella, Sylvia, Nabila and Bella delivered their prepared speech again. They were then given 5 minutes to prepare an impromptu speech.
All 4 of them delivered fantastic speeches and should be so proud of themselves.
Both Isabella and Sylvia did a fantastic job on both their impromptu and prepared speeches. A big congratulations to Nabila and Bella who were highly commended for the stage 3 competition.
