Italiano Term 2

Italiano Term 2 with Dean 2026
The Grade 1’s, 3/4's and 5/6’s continue to focus on building their vocabulary in Italian this term.
Grade 1’s – Numbers 1-20
We have worked on extending our number knowledge, with a focus on the numbers 11 (undici) to 20 (venti.) We have been having fun practicing simple equations in Italian and working on remembering the spelling and pronunciation of these bigger numbers. Each grade also celebrated their compleanno (birthday) by decorating the number representing their age and writing this in Italian.
Here’s some to practice at home:
11-undici; 12-dodici; 13-tredici; 14-quattordici; 15-quindici 16-sedici; 17-diciasette; 18-diciotto; 19-diciannove; 20-venti.
Grade 3/4's – Sports Words
We have been focussing on a range of words to do with sports with a particular focus on the action words in sports such as calcio (soccer); football australiano (AFL); pallacanestro (basketball); netball and cricket. We have been learning about verbs related to each sport such as: lanciare (throwing); calciare (kicking); cattuare (catching or marking); and segnare (scoring.)
Students have researched their favourite sport and are completing an information poster showing the Italian terms related to it.
Grade 5/6’s – Famous Sports people
We have also been completing work with a sports focus working on a range of words to do with famous Italian sports personalities in different sports.
Students have researched their favourite sports personality and are completing an information poster showing the Italian terms related to them and their sport.
They are also learning how the ending of present tense verbs change when writing about yourself or others. For example calciare (kicking) changes to calcio (I kick) when talking about yourself or tu calci (you kick) when talking about a friend.
Languagenut -the students in Grades 3-6 are able to access their Languagenut accounts at home to continue their Italian learning online. They will need to bring a copy of their User name and Password home and visit Languagenut.com to log in.
