Junior School Update

With Mrs Fiona Clark

It has been a warm and connected week in the Junior School, highlighted by our wonderful participation in the Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday. Students and staff enjoyed coming together to share food and conversation, while also supporting a very important cause. It was pleasing to see how many of our students could make meaningful connections to the work of the Cancer Council, showing both empathy and an understanding of the impact fundraising can have on individuals and families in our community.

As the cooler weather continues, we are noticing an increase in colds and sore throats among students. We kindly ask families to keep children at home if they are unwell, ensuring they have time to recover fully and helping to minimise the spread of illness throughout the school.

A gentle reminder to all families about the importance of students wearing the correct school uniform each day. Consistent presentation helps build a sense of pride and belonging within our school community, and we appreciate your ongoing support in maintaining these expectations.

There is also growing excitement among students as we look ahead to the Mayfair this Sunday. This is a much-anticipated event, and we look forward to seeing many of our families there enjoying the festivities together.

Thank you for your continued support of the Junior School.

3/4s Welcome a Familiar Face

Last week our Year 3/4 students welcomed Mrs Alex Monk, former Mayor of Moira Shire and current Chair of the Cobram AGS School Council, to speak about the important role local government plays in our community.

As part of their current inquiry unit, students have been exploring how communities operate, how decisions are made democratically, and the different levels of government in Australia. Students enjoyed hearing about Alex’s journey into local government and learning more about her role as Chair of School Council.

There were plenty of thoughtful questions throughout the session — including a few cheeky suggestions from students that laptops should start in Year 3 rather than Year 5!

A big thank you to Alex for generously sharing her time, experiences and knowledge with our students.

Foundation Taster Day

We had a wonderful time welcoming some fresh faces to our Foundation Taster Morning on 12 May!

These children blended beautifully with our current Foundation students and enjoyed a fun morning of classroom reading activities, exploring the Library, and playing games out on the oval.
