At St Aloysius College we are fortunate to have Brendon Coan (ATSI Community and Student Liaison Officer from Sydney Catholic Schools) working in our school community each Friday. Brendon mentors our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, providing cultural advice, cultural initiatives, career opportunities and wellbeing check-ins.
Last year Brendon and our students painted a mural on the door of Room 14. This small meeting room has a number of uses, including a space for mentoring and meeting with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students. The mural represents the journey of our students upon arrival at the College, through to the time they enter into the world beyond school. Working closely with Brendon is Marie Cullen who is our College ATSI Engagement Officer. Marie ensures our ATSI students are informed, engaged and involved in various First Nations initiatives and programs throughout the year.
As you are aware the College has partnered with the Resilience Project over the past few years. This year we are hoping to expand the influence of the project and wish to include families in this worthwhile enterprise.
We are excited to offer an online webinar to our families and members of our community which you can view from the comfort of your own home. Presenters from the Resilience Project will introduce the program and how it can be implemented in the family home.
We hope as many parents can join us as possible - please use the link below to pre-register Registration Link.
The Resilience Project - “As we know, a whole school approach is key to supporting student wellbeing. This ‘TRP in Action’ Webinar for Parents/Carers is designed to connect the classroom to home, providing a consistency and common language which promotes positive wellbeing throughout your community.” Please see attached flyer for more information.
